Morning everyone. Was cool and a low marine layer as I left for work this morning but, that's often the case for the homestead. I was surprised that the valley is as well.
Jim, how's the remodel work coming along? I'm in the middle of too many individual projects at home to count. This past weekend, pulled out our 60 ye old french doors from the dining room out to the rear deck and all of the old sheetrock on the whole exterior wall. Our house was originally built as a summer place with no insulation at all and then later they cored through the siding and blew in cellulose. Man I hate that stuff. We're methodically removing all of that in the walls and replacing with FG. So far, it's making a huge difference. Can't believe some of the wiring I'm finding. Fixing all of that stuff while I'm in there. I also found that they didn't install studs under the french door header! Just had some 1x in there to cut down the rough opening size! I always knew the doors were a bit oversize but, damn! So, fixed that as well and going to get all the new sheetrock up tonight. Looking at replacement doors for that opening now. Luckily the new rough opening is for standard 6 ftr...:p |
Morning all...

morning all. Long two day weekend. mostly spent running Connor from one music thng after another.
Time to work (sleep)....zzzzzz |
Hi guys.
Michael, we're making some progress on the house. The kitchen is nearing completion, and we've asked our contractor, Pelican look_171, to also remodel our bathrooms. We're pretty excited about that. Exterior painting is done, with the exception of some touch-up work. We've primed some of the interior, but have more to do. We need to build a new closet in the 2nd bedroom, as it's existing closet will be deleted and that space given up to the 2nd bathroom. We still need to loose the 6-panel interior doors in favor of simple slab doors. The entry door needs to be replaced. The electrical service for the house has been upgraded, but like your house, we have some creative wiring to undo. Flooring will all be replaced. Except for the bathrooms, we're going to have cork flooring. Maybe by this time next year we'll be wrapping up the house remodeling and start in on the yard. Our back yard needs a lot of attention. |
Having trouble getting motivated today... Got an email this morning that a man I knew through scouting passed away last night. He sat on my board of review for my Eagle Scout, and I helped him with several day camps after that. This is the second guy in the last year that we've lost. Both of them were some of the most selfless men I know and did so much for scouting in Western OK.
Why is it the good ones that go? :( |
Bummer Sid. Sorry for your loss.

I wasn't on for long last night - GD came over for dinner and play. She was helping cook - that was an interesting (and fun) experience. :D Quote:
