you only need to pick up one end though glen. Pick up one end, place on dolly, pick up other end and lower into pit... Roll until you are close and then lower the other end in.

I stopped at a local lumber yard today and got the plywood for the pit cover. I had them trim it down to fit. That place is cool. It has been in business since the early days of the state.

I am always a curious type so I asked what they did with all of the saw dust. I figured someone came by and bought it for animal bedding or something. He said there is a local lady that comes by that never buys anything. She takes the little pieces of scrap wood and the sawdust and she burns it in her heater. She brings several gallons of very tasty potato soup for the employees and they just love it.

Glen, use a couple of sturdy pieces of HSS and two trolley jacks.

Open the lift enough to slide the HSS into the lift so they can support the lift by the top section. Then manoeuvre the lift using the trolley jacks (a second person will help). When you have the lift in place, open the lift some more till the base is down inside your pit and the lift is supporting itself.

I got it!

David Copperfield drops by, puts a black cloth over the lift, waves his hands over it then removes the cloth and the lift has disappeared. Then he lays the cloth over the pit, waves his hands again, removes the cloth and poof, the lift is in the pit.

When I try it with a bed sheet, all that ends up happening is the bed sheet gets dirty.

Seem to know a lot of clowns, but no magicians.

Put the lift out in the yard and build a new garage over top of it

The most expensive option of them all!

It would be nice to have a 4 car garage, but a bit pricey. I did think about raising the roof and putting in a standard lift. It would be crazy expensive and cheaper to move to a new house built to order. I am too lazy to move ever again. BTDT.

Well yeah, go big or go home

RKDinOKC 05-08-2014 05:37 PM

Dad always told me...If you aren't in bed by 10pm, go home and get some sleep.

GH85Carrera 05-09-2014 06:21 AM

TGIF.

I drove the 911 to work today. It looks like it might sprinkle so I parked inside the building.

RKDinOKC 05-09-2014 08:23 AM

Yeah, well...try waxing the 911 while on yer lunch break and see if it's raining or has rained when it's time to drive it home.

GH85Carrera 05-09-2014 08:39 AM

It is looking pretty clear out there right now. :) :D

Hola, y'all. Not working today but still busy with things to do. I just took Lu's clapped out Jetta to the emissions testing station...passed. :) The temp and humidity are on the way up. Spring may almost be over here. :( Oh well, one week to go 'till our SoCal work-cation.

It is a real pretty day out there. We might have to shut down and close early because of the Friday flu. I think a cold beer might cure me. It might take more than one.

azzarule 05-09-2014 01:32 PM

afternoon all.

Marilyn got to go to work today, it was so foggy this morning, I took an old sheet to cover the interior, as I had the top down, until the fog cleared, couldn't be bothered putting the top on, and I wanted it down later anyway, the fog lifted around 11.30.

I nailed on work at 1600, went to the gym, just got done so now I'm gonna walk the pup, shower and head to my favorite droning establishment

Daily drove my Boxster in 2003 all summer without ever putting the top up. It only rained at night that summer and the boxster was in my garage with the top still down.

The only real hassle with the boxster top was you had to be stopped with the ebrake engaged for the 13 seconds it took to put it up or down.
