Lol, for some reason a lot of Americans still think that we should give them eternal gratitude for that.
And don't get me wrong, I know my history, and I appreciate the struggle a lot of foreign (not only American...) people went through for us. But on the other hand, all that happened before my parents were even born.... It's like asking an African American to be thankful that some white people said no to slavery and that he is not plucking cotton anymore... You'll get a funny look, nothing more... When children get history lessons here, do you know what they are taught? Who liberated the occupied countries?? THE ALLIES, not the Americans, the allies... We know our history and we respect the people that died for us, but don't expect eternal awe if you did not fight here yourself... If your great grandfather was here 60 years ago, respect for him, but that is where it ends for us. Not trying to be rude or anything, Glen, you know that. I'm just trying to make clear what my/our perspective on that matter is. So for us, you guys are just loud, guncrazy, and eat a lot of burgers... and there is nothing wrong with that ;) |
I understand it was the allies that defeteated the Axis. But the allies were getting whipped until the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor.

I had my first of many flights today. A little over an hour logged in my book.

I'm not shaving until next week...

Not Shaving for a week, that'll be itchy.
Slavery...Instead being grateful for being freed, the African Americans expect to be compensated because their ancestors were once slaves. To play the game right you guys should be asking Obama for help because you were once occupied. :) My uncle, now dead, was an army cook in WWII. He *****ed me out for being un-American when I bought my first Porsche because it was German. He lived in New Jersey and always drove the biggest Cadillac you could get. |

Just scored a set of JBL G400 tower stereo speakers from a guy moving a few blocks down for $140... not the best price but it was worth not having to drive to North Hollywood to look at this other set on craigslist.
Now I need to find the perfect amp. |
Had a beard since 1981, but have always regularly shaved my neck and cheeks.
Cool speakers. I LOVE my dbx SF150 speakers. They are the SoundField speakers Dolby designed before they sold their speaker name to DAK and went into just selling studio equipment and surround sound rights. The SF150 reproduces the entire frequency spectrum at the same volume no matter where you are in the room. That translates to the stereo image sweet spot being the entire room. Seriously, you can sit 1 foot directly in front of one of the speakers and still get the stereo image. I am very protective of them since the speakers and parts are no longer available. |
I want a good sound system! :(
Damn bumpkins around here think the stuff sold at wally mart is good.... |
Stereo amps have come a long way in the last 20 years. I'm into 80's hi fi systems- something about em, I just like em. 80's Sansui and Rotel stuff, especially. However, even a modern $200 surround sound receiver will better than an old mid-80's $1500 stereo amp. Today's solid state chip-amps have such low distortion compared to the old stuff.
However, there were some speakers made back then that still rival today's good stuff. I left these bad boys behind: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280983418.jpg Pretty rare Sansui's. I've searched the net over and over and I've only come across two other sets online, ever. This was the period-correct rack they were pumped with: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280983496.jpg |
I have this system to go with my Sony 46 inch flatscreen.
I wanted SMALL speakers... Well, they are small... and they sound really well and loud!. I'm not an expert and I don't need the best of the best, just a really nice sounding surround system. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280987185.jpg |
