Migrating mailboxes. Can only do a few at a time and have to wait for them to finish before moving more.

Never grounded my nephew. Instead I explained to him how being under Authority works. Mainly how if you do what authority asks, when they ask, and follow the rules you earn trust. If you break the rules and don't do the things asked when asked you lose trust. And the most important part, the benefits of having trust, like permission to do things and getting things you want. It's not about taking current freedoms and things away as much as being able to get future freedoms and things. When he ask to do things or to get things the decision of whether he could or not was based on his past performance.

When I got a car, my Dad told me I could stay out as late as I wanted as long as I got up and did what I was supposed to do the next day. If I didn't, he would take my keys. I had earned that trust because I always did what I was told to do when I was told to do it. I might have complained, but it was while I was doing it, not instead of.

When we moved into the base housing when I was in high school we owned a refrigerator but the base housing came with a fridge. We just moved that fridge into my bedroom to store the leftovers and my dad kept his beer in there. Yep, I was a teenager with a fridge of cold beer in my room. It was explained in very simple clear straightforward terms that the beer was not mine to drink.

Air Force officers attend and throw a lot of parties. Every party that my parents had other officers would wonder into my room looking for the beer. They were all astonished I had the beer in my room.

I understood the punishment phase clearly and never touched his beer. I did on a few occasions go to the base package store after I turned 18 and buy my own six pack of the same brand and mix it in. I kept careful count.

It was great having leftovers in my room. Fried chicken is good cold.

My dad drank Altes and smoked Old Gold Filter 100s. I didn't realize beer doesn't have to suck until my best friend introduced me to Michelob and Heineken.


Got the oil changed in the truck today and bought the oil and filter for the Honda. Used my AZ rewards points for a discount and the filters were on sale with purchase of the 5qt jugs of Valvoline Maxlife. All total was about $45.00. Not bad considering I won't have to do it again until the end of summer, based on how few miles we drive now.

Took all of my used oil back to them, too. Over 4 gallons total. Cleaned the truck engine bay whilst I was in there.

Well it has been a day. Going to let the 1s and 0s get disturbed overnight and reconfigure in the morning.

My father never raised a hand at me in a punishment kind of way, although that one night I drove home so drunk he knew by talking to me on the CB, well he rattled me pretty good. My sister and I were both physically abused by the ***** that bore us (my parents are divorced) so I guess my dad figured I had been through enough.
He is also ex military and bigger then me by a far sight so he really never had to do much more then tell me once.
On a lighter (pun intended) note the boss was much better today, seems a little fire can do wonders to ones perspective

Young kids can't reason (it blows me away the amount of parents that think they can), a smack is all that's required to diffuse a bad situation. My kid were rarely smacked and never with anything but my hand. I figured that if I used my hand then I would know the exact measure of punishment. I was smacked with a cane or a ruler often and swore that I was never going to use an implement other than my hand. It wasn't something that I was fond of doing so if it was uncomfortable for me then one smack was probably enough.

I would sometimes count, never to more than three. If I started counting, kids would run. Sometimes the smack came at the count of one, sometimes at two, but always at three. I would only have to start counting to get their attention and a smack became extremely rare.

Depending upon the situation, sometimes I would say 'do that again so I can smack your bottom'. Then attempt to goad them into doing whatever it was I told them not to do. It would end when I received sufficient 'I don't want too' replies.

The key to it all was not making idle threats. We had well behaved kids from a very early age that had well established boundaries that were rarely crossed. That also meant that grounding punishments at a later age were also very rare and it probably hurt more to have internet access removed or the phone taken away for a few weeks, or when they started driving, to hand over their set of car keys.

Nope.Bass player jammed a Rickenbacker most times,had a Jazz bass as backup.

The lead singer (my best friend who also introduced me to the world of 911s) played a Jackson.
The lead guitarist also had a Jackson as well as an old Strat.

Damn if it doesn't look like a Dean in that shot. I had a Dean Z way back in the day and that thng was good for nothing but feedback and distortion, it soon went away, don't miss it.

In my days with a band I played the air guitar. The rest of the band never knew about me and I never got my royalties but I played with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and several more. I don't want to name drop too much since I played with all the greats.

Well since cold kills my hands I have spent the last couple of months playing the radio, that is about to change, I restrung the girls last weekend and am back at it

I only play Pandora now days. No commercials EVER!

Radio was a generic term, I usually just put my phone t random and let it eat. I have a couple of gig of music on it so I hardly ever get a repeat.

I don't have Pandora, XM, or whatever is on a smartphone..cause I don't have a smartphone.

Being a musician,you'd think I would have a nice music collection with a big ol' setup. Nope, never have had much more than a little home stereo. Never bought many records over the years like many did.

I don't have an IPOD, either.

I listen to Pandora as soon as I start the car. My phone streams it via Bluetooth to the Elky radio. As soon as I get to work pandora is fired up on one of my computers. I love Pandora and it keeps digging up music I like that I had never heard before.
