Heard some reporter chick talking about how horrible the wind was reaching gusts of 40mph. Heck we have that without any rain of even clouds. In fact, it was windier than that a couple of weeks ago with no rain or clouds. Where did they find her? When they sensationalize normal weather is when people stop listening and start dying when a real weather emergency comes along. Put that chick back on politics.

We were on vacation on one of our road trips and I don't remember where it was but.....

My wife was watching the local weather on the local news. It was typical of so many places that just have a pretty chick that is reading a script and was clueless about weather. She was saying it was going to be a really windy day with gusts up to 12 MPH! We both laughed out loud.

We do get spoiled with the local weather coverage. All the stations have genuine degree holding meteorologists discussing the weather. Of course they all are wrong more than right for the forecast and all three stations claim to be the most accurate. The TV stations often have better newer radar system than the national weather service down in Norman, OK where the nations weather is covered.

Weather forecaster....Only job where you get paid to be wrong and lie a lot!!!

The chick they had on last night was on a local channel. They had her out somewhere trying to find flooding to report on. They didn't go back to her.

They also interviewed a young Pizza delivery driver that got his car stalled in the high water. He had to climb out the window because he couldn't push the door open against the water. He was telling viewers to NOT drive into water and he thought he could make it.

Looked at the radar local TV showed on internet storm coverage and determined the edges of the storm front heading our way specifically were not raggedy enough to have tornados and then just left the sound on just-in-case they started talking about hook echos.

Our local guy Bob Lindmeier has a degree from UW Madison. They also have a "guarantee" and if they are wrong they give a prize to some random winner. There are stipulations like the temp is +- 2* and such.

12mph here is what we consider fairly calm.

Been a few years since we had a tornado go by. If we have another there better be sharks in it. Our beagle would love to bark at a shark. He is smart enough to hide from all the bald eagles.

So David, how long structuring drafts, drafting structures or is that your main drafting job?

Porsche-poor 05-03-2018 02:03 PM

I draft all sorts of things. Electrical drawings, structural drawings, mechanical drawings, process drawings. I am a drafter who can do it all. I prefer mechanical - non-piping as in machine design.

So a nice 18 cylinder Double Wasp or something as opposed to a laundromat plumbing.

When we do planimetric mapping the end file is a DWG file that is a drawing of every object on the ground in the specified area. So every curb, parking space, light pole, utility pole, manhole, bush tree, building footprint and trench and pond is drawn. Each line had the metadata so if you click on it it will be labeled as a building or whatever. The things ignored are temporary objects like cars or trucks or people. We can even attach the underground information if it is provided to us. It is all totally 3D and tedious.

We are sunny today after having rain and dark clouds Tuesday night and most of yesterday.

I'm going to tinker around with the Z car in the garage.

Porsche-poor 05-03-2018 02:43 PM

So does that mean you give a tinkers damn or don't give a tinkers damn?

Sounds like a great way to spend sequential Saturday afternoons.

They are never wrong. Someone somewhere always thinks they are right.

And willing to participate

TGIF again. We made it to Friday.

It looks like it is time to flush the cooling system on the Elky. I do it every 24 months and it is due. And the A/C is not blowing cold. The system has not been touched in 6 years. I bet there is a little gunk in the orifice tube and the charge is a little low. I will check the pressures first but I am betting I will recover the gas, and pop out the orifice tube, and replace it. I bought one yesterday. $1.99 investment just in case it is needed.

Then pressurize with nitrogen pull a vacuum, pressurize with nitrogen second time and pull a hard vacuum, refill. Hopefully done for 6 more years.

It should be fun.
