We are supposed to have two nice days and that big bright thing in the sky is back out.

I need to vacuum the inside on the 911 and do a once over on the outside to make it all purdy. We have the local regional PCA club's 55th anniversary on Saturday. One of the guys in tow has a super nice "man cave" full of his personal collection of cars, and a parking lot big enough to have a car show in. So we have a "shine and show" level of car show, food and lots of chatting.

I will dig out some of my old club stuff for display. I remember going to the 20th anniversary. We used to give out some nicer awards for club duties, and I will bring those. We have some old photos of gatherings from the early 1980s and I am in them.

It will be a fun day.

I should be at the beach by tomorrow afternoon till Sunday. Its supposed to be damp and cold.

GH85Carrera 06-03-2021 06:42 AM

So the swimming will be rather brief periods.

Porsche-poor 06-03-2021 06:44 AM

I do not wish to turn blue...........no swimming.

GH85Carrera 06-03-2021 06:55 AM

I remember when I was last in San Diego and we went across the bridge to Coronado to the great beach they have. I put on my bathing suit, and went towards the water. Severl people were swimming so I went walking into the water. My feet froze in the sand and the thought of getting into that cold water mad parts of me shrink up and go inverted. Dang that is cold water. And that is almost to Mexico. I can't imagine the polar waters of Washington or Oregon.

I spent thousands of hours in the Pacific ocean in Hawaii in the warm waters. I have been swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, and on the Atlantic on the east coast of Florida in Daytona Beach.

Stuck my feet into Lake Michigan, Huron, and Erie and even Crater Lake in Oregon. All way too cold to swim in.

Porsche-poor 06-03-2021 07:03 AM

yep its to cold to play in. I'll just watch the waves roll in and relax.

porsche4life 06-03-2021 08:59 AM

Even in July, the water in SoCal is too damn cold to be enjoyable! Our kids will play in it, but the only way I get in is with a wet suit! 🤣

Have fun at the party Glen! I’m sure it will be full of familiar faces!

We used to swim at Coronado and Torrey Pines when we lived out that way. The water would get up to 68*.

All the clothes are swapped out and we are back home. The van, with its 18 gallon tank will go almost 600 miles on a tank on the highway. My stomach and bladder will not go 600 miles on a tank. We filled up when we stopped for meals. Most of the trip was good for being at a national park with upper 60s and sun. One day was drizzly.

Now I get to work on two motorcycles, the back deck and the outside garage floor and get the full width roll bar in the Cobra.

Porsche-poor 06-03-2021 11:08 AM

I'm working on a nap.

That might be my next project!

I went with my wife to a neat restaurant condo place in Edmond called the Rail-yard. It is 40 or 50 feet from the RR tracks and the building has been converted to multiple restaurants. So you can pick from Mexican, Tai, Burgers, and several other types of food. Get the food and they have a large patio area to eat at. It was nice in the shade at 78 degrees with a light breeze. We ain't ever going in the heat of summer or cold of winter.

Evidently at night the live bands show up and the party begins. Once again, I will pass.

The University where my wife worked for many years was having a meeting of the retirees, so it was a chance to see the other folks she knew. We ate with one professor nicknamed Batman, not because of crime fighting. but that is his specialty. He has written textbooks on the mammals of Oklahoma. One other guy was yet another PhD and has written books on Ernest Shackleton the arctic explorer.

Porsche-poor 06-03-2021 01:29 PM

Sounds like a great place everyone can get something they like and all eat together.

GH85Carrera 06-04-2021 06:01 AM

I need to get into the garage and detail the inside of the 911 this morning soon. I am digging out some of my old club related treasures. The 20th & 30th anniversary paper weights they handed out, and other various regions stuff for the historical display tomorrow at the party.

GH85Carrera 06-04-2021 01:12 PM

I was cleaning out the inside of the 911 and the humidity was somewhere around 190%. Yea, I know that is impossible, but it was a humidity index, like heat index!

I finally gave up, closed the doors, and punched on the AC. Just knocking down the humidity was all I needed. It was a ton more comfortable. We are hoping for a 100 members tomorrow for the party. That would be great.

For the 50th anniversary party there was a storm the night before in that area, and the power was off when we got there. And it rained most of the day, so the turnout was lower than we wanted. We are supposed to have good weather tomorrow.

Drug the 944 out to cars and coffee this morning. The car scene here in AZ is crazy, guy brought his Carrera GT and parked it on the street.

It was a great turnout for the big party. Nice selection of cars. The bottom one is the best of the lot in my opinion, but I might have a slight prejudice in the matter.

Took me a week, but I swapped out the brakes (front pads/rotors) on the Targa in piecemeal fashion. Finished by putting in new brake fluid today. With the pistons retracted in their calipers, I knew to take it easy on the first stop. But it was still unnerving to back out of the garage (our driveway is just a wee bit sloped down to the street) and have the middle pedal go absolutely to the floor with no resistance. I grabbed a handful of e-brake to come to a stop, and then pumped the brake pedal a few times to bring back firmness.

GH85Carrera 06-06-2021 07:16 AM

I scared the crap out of myself after my first brake pad replacement. I learned then to pump the brake pedal several times before I even move the car. Even without the engine running I can pump up the brakes.

It saves me from heart attacks that way.

Porsche-poor 06-07-2021 06:45 AM

Morning all. Had a great trip to the beach. A tad wet at times but fun. Little guy is to small to really enjoy it but he had fun in his pack.

GH85Carrera 06-07-2021 06:45 AM

I will need to squeeze in an oil change on the 911 this week. I also want to replace the fan cage on the main AC blower (evaporator blower) with a new one I bought from Pelican. When I replaced the fan motor with the hurricane motor from Griffiths I had one hell of a time getting the squirrel cage off the shaft. I guess I bet it some as it vibrates at certain speeds. Mostly at the perfect speed I like the most, and it rattles. So new fan cage and hopefully that is fixed.

It is hard to believe Parade is just a little over a month away.

flipper35 06-07-2021 09:48 AM

Where is the Parade this year?
