Our plum and cherry trees are all in full bloom now, two weeks later than usual. My wife usually grows pineapples too, but inside. Nothing like fresh off the stalk pineapple.

How are things going Sid?

Our local PCA region had the board meeting last night. One of the regional members has a neat business. He has a really nice place to park and store cars and a "clubhouse" with beer on tap, a big screen TV, and a fridge and nice party room. He invited us to use it for the board meeting.

One of the board members drove his new 2021 911 Turbo S. There were two 944 Turbos, one 993 Cab, a 1964 356 outlaw, a 718 GT4, and my 911. And one guy came right from work in his pickup. One had to use Zoom to attend.

Then in about 2005 my brother took a hunk back to Alabama with him. Last year when we drove down there for a week he gave my wife a piece of that same one.

In Hawaii we had plumeria trees that were big enough to make multiple leis when relatives came to visit.

So cool that yours has a story in your family like that! I’d move it into a larger planter with some cactus soil and it’ll thrive! I’ve been using osmocote fertilizer and the occasional dose of fish fertilizer on ours and they’ve started growing like crazy!

Hey I’ve not been an okie for almost a decade now! 😳 growing tropicals here in AZ where it almost never freezes and we have 300+ sunny days a year is pretty easy, jsut have to shade them a bit in the summer months so they don’t get scorched!

Pineapple is such a cool plant. We’ve talked about getting a few, but we are running out of space fast!

Things are going well, busy as ever now that we can travel for work again and the kids are both in all sorts of stuff for school! I’ve got a whole list of car projects to do, and no time to get them done!

GH85Carrera 05-12-2022 01:14 PM

We used to buy fresh picked pineapple for 10 cents each. So sweet our guests thought we had soaked it in sugar. Just straight from the plant.

Well the final image ended up at 54 Gig!

Only 119,558 162,788 pixels. I sliced it up into 6 columns and those are still to big for Photoshop to save. I guess I will cut it up into 7 pieces. This is gonna take a while.

Morning all. Next week is going to be fun around here. Getting the roof re-done. Trucks, containers and materials. I'll be lucky if we can get in and out of the driveway.

GH85Carrera 05-13-2022 07:54 AM

Yea, the joy of listening to bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam for hours is a blast.

The boss's wife forced me from the fun with the giant image to help her with some rerouting the drip irrigation in one of the flowerbeds. I had to add a few dripers and move a couple of them for new plants.

I ended up having to cut the images into 8 pieces to get Photoshop to open and save the images. Just some color tweaking in some areas to balance out the difference in how the ground photographs from different angles. Then reassemble the tiles in the mapping software and make a new mosaic of the entire area. It is all made up of 3,600 individual images taken over nearly an hour of flight time. The sun angle is different, and various other difference make it a fun project.

About 10 years ago we had a local company replace the roof after a hail storm. The insurance paid it all no problem. About 6 year later we had some soffits that were drooping. I am NOT a carpenter, especially when working from a ladder looking straight up. So we call the same guy for an estimate on those repairs. He looked around and said he could do the soffits as they replace the roof. I said WFT, and asked him to repeat that. Then he explained the company that manufactured the roof discovered it was a defective protect, and it needs to be replaced as the little gravel bits are coming off. I was about to blow a gasket, and he continued, the manufacturer has admitted the problem, and the are paying 100% of the cost. So got a free roof, and no insurance claim. He did the soffits as a bonus and we did not even have to pay for that.

Porsche-poor 05-13-2022 10:44 AM

I wish. Its a roof from 1998 and needs to be done right this time.

flipper35 05-13-2022 10:50 AM

We had ours done about 5 years ago. Hope to not do it again here.

We have a gentle breeze and Goldilocks temps today.

GH85Carrera 05-13-2022 10:53 AM

They turned off all those really big fans on the huge poles that are all over the place today so there is no wind. I hate when they crank them up to high blow and make it windy.

Porsche-poor 05-13-2022 10:55 AM

they need to point them in a different direction once in a while.

GH85Carrera 05-13-2022 11:00 AM

Some days they blow south, and other days they turn them to blow north. Either way, Texas is sucking or blowing it is windy when they have em cranked up. I guess they are recharging the batteries with a bunch of diesel powered generators today to crank em up again tomorrow.

Porsche-poor 05-13-2022 11:02 AM

Then enjoy it while it lasts.

GH85Carrera 05-13-2022 12:41 PM

I am setting up the one small project of the three sites we flew for the customer with the GIANT area. It is nice to se it processing quickly. The big area took 33 hours in the mapping program that assembles the images. This one will be a piece of cake. Maybe three hours total.

The ironic part of the monster area we did it to specifications for the bid proposal. 99% chance that no one at the customer's place will ever be able to open the full res file. I made a tif file that is "only" 600 MB to make prints for the wall. I can't use that monster image to print. But it is what the ordered.

GH85Carrera 05-14-2022 08:59 AM

The small project ran pretty fast.Just over 3 hours to make the mosaic and a nice little 5.5 GB tif image.

We went to the PCA club breakfast this morning out in Yukon, OK. Had to drive R-66 for a few miles of it. The restaurant is one block off of Rt-66. Small family owned place, and they are struggling with finding staff. By 9:00 AM people were standing around waiting for a table. Our meeting time is 8:30 just to beat that 9:00 crowd. The service was a big slow because like most all restaurants. they can't get staff to work. Evidently one of the regular employees partied a bit hard last night and called in sick this morning with the Saturday morning hangover.

One guy drove his fully loaded really nice 993. Whoever ordered it new got all the options, even a rear windshield wiper.

GH85Carrera 05-15-2022 09:41 AM

I was sound asleep last night and my wife woke me up by loudly telling me to put on my shorts and shoes and come outside. Our male dachshund, Reuben had been circling the storage building earlier in the day. I caught a mouse in a trap in the storage building the night before, and I figured there was a mouse to dispose of. I was mistaken.

Reuben had been playing Elmer Fudd, and he had been wabbit hunting. Unlike Elmer, Reuben had caught and killed a bunny. It was not a full grown rabbit, but decent size. There was zero doubt it was dead, from a lot of head shaking and biting. It was clamped firmly in his jaws. So we went to the garage, and set him in the bed of the El Camino to keep him corralled. I got a couple of dog treats, and put them down for him. He had to think about it, but he gave up the bunny and went for the treats. I grabbed the bunny, and took him to the train station, um the compost pile. He will get recycled by the worms.

Noah930 05-15-2022 10:14 PM

Weird. Creepy weird. Twice today on my FB feed I had ads for things I had purchased. There was an ad for shorts--the exact ones I was wearing. Then an ad for a line of artwork, with the exact print depicted in the ad being one hanging on the wall next to me.

OK, FB tries to tailor ads to fit my interests/purchasing. But I have never looked up anything even remotely directed to shorts or this manufacturer, and I've never looked up travel plans linked to Hawaii, let alone artwork of the place/town in which I stayed the last time I was there (which was before I purchased this phone). Heck, I don't even talk about these things with family/friends for Google/FB to eavesdrop.
