I is sounding like I may "get" to have my MIL here from Thanksgiving through the weekend until Tuesday. Wheeee.

Porsche-poor 11-21-2022 08:04 AM

Time to hide in the garage?

GH85Carrera 11-21-2022 08:14 AM

Possibly! It is heated out there.

My wife's doctor died. She has used him for over 35 years. He was pretty old, and trying to retire, but he had patients that kept coming to him. She called the doctor I use, and set up the next appointment for new patients, November 19th 2023. She also asked for any cancellations that she is called. That is just silly, that he is booked up for over a year to see a new patient. He will have several patients die in the next year, and appointments have to open up.

It is tough to find an internist, that accepts new patients, and medicare patients to boot. Oh well, the old office will have to do something to refill her prescriptions for a while.

Porsche-poor 11-21-2022 08:39 AM

That is crazy. She could probably have found another doc before then.

GH85Carrera 11-21-2022 08:47 AM

Yea, she is calling a few.

My last doctor was good, but he moved his office to the diagonal corner of the busy little suburb I live in. There is no such think as a diagonal direction road, only the cardinal directions. So either I had to go all the way around the outside, or a bunch of one mile moves around a checkerboard, right through the worst traffic in the area. It was a 45 minute drive. So I switched docs to a guy that is just a few easy miles away, and very little traffic.

No way could I ever live in a city like LA, Portland, Atlanta and so on, where the traffic comes to a stop on the interstate all the time and it can take hours to go 5 miles.

My wife's best friend's youngest daughter is gonna have a baby 11 months after she got married. It is going to be a girl.

My wife just finished a baby blanket and now she is knitting a bunny that wears a little dress. Our dachshund keeps eyeing the bunny and is pretty convinced it is a new toy for him. The bunny is almost finished, she needs one more ear, and the dress. My wife has to keep it on the end table next to her chair to keep it safe.

She made the blanket in a week. The bunny is a few days to make.

Sounds cute. Send a picture before the pup gets to it.

Morning all. The rain is back and its two days till the great "why did I eat so much". Oh and parade and football.

GH85Carrera 11-22-2022 08:13 AM

In the years when I had a "regular" job I usually mowed the yard one last time the day after Thanksgiving. It beats the hell out of shopping on black Friday. This year I am gonna mow two days before Thanksgiving. We have had a few had freezes, and the leaves are falling. It is 50 degrees now and supposed to be almost 60 by 3:00 PM. It will be FUN!

It looks like we might get rain on Thanksgiving and on Friday, so I gotta ado it earlier than normal. I don't think the grass will know the difference.

Porsche-poor 11-22-2022 08:16 AM

The one tree in our yard still has a few leaves left but it is big enough this year that it is going to take three yard-waste totes to get rid of it all.

GH85Carrera 11-22-2022 08:27 AM

The ice storm from two years ago destroyed the two largest trees we had. They are gone, stumps ground out, and new baby trees planted. One Bradford Pear was replaced with a Holly Tree. It is 8 foot tall, and does not drop leaves. It has berries the birds like to eat.

The tree in the back yard is now a male Chinese Pastiche so just some small leaves and no real mess. The large trees in the neighborhood association on the other side of the fence drop some leaves. I can just mulch up everything today. Later in the year a few trash cans of leaves will be gathered, and added to the compost pile. We will not have any leaves go to the landfill.

Porsche-poor 11-22-2022 10:51 AM

I'll have rain soaked leaves to get rid of in two weeks. Our yard waste is every other week and the bin is full now with another pile waiting to go after that.

flipper35 11-22-2022 11:07 AM

Our maples and apple trees have a few leaves yet. Will mulch anything left in the spring.

GH85Carrera 11-22-2022 12:17 PM

The yard is mowed and edged.

I just mulched the front yard as there were only a few leaves. The back yard had more Fescue and leaves. I went ahead and bagged it all but it fit in the compost barrel. In a few weeks it will be 1/4 the volume and on its way to become soil by spring.

We have two wheelie bins for trash. We can't put construction trash in it, but most everything else goes in. The boss's wife filled one bin with dead plant debris from her frozen plants. The other bin had garbage in it. We have a recycle bin we can put cardboard, paper, plastic, aluminum, glass and the typical recycle stuff in. It all goes in one bug bin. From what I read it is used as a layer to top off the other garbage and trash before they sod Mt. Trashmore.

It was weird mowing in 59 degree temperatures. Like a giant air conditioner blowing all the time. I hardly broke a sweat. I liked it!

GH85Carrera 11-23-2022 10:09 AM

The humidity is at 95% according to my Vantage Vue. It is drizzling and foggy, so I would think it is 100% but what is 5% at that level. I went on a quick errand to the local market - dairy. I was told to bring home "ice cream for the topping of the apple dumplings" so I figured I could manage that.

I also stopped at the convenience store for more beer. I saw two chicks there that were planning a great thanksgiving. They picked up four cases of beer, and 2 large bags of ice. I guess the fridge is full of turkey and fixing, so the beer goes in the ice chest.

We have a turkey, and the other goodies to make a feast.

Have a great Turkey day tomorrow!

GH85Carrera 11-24-2022 07:07 AM

Happy Thanksgiving guys.

Here is the Thanksgiving advice we follow every year!

We had a great turkey, and still eating turkey! Yum. I am a turkey lover. We sent home a bunch of leftovers with my MIL, but we still have a lot of turkey sandwiches and dressing and mashed taters left.

Porsche-poor 11-28-2022 07:32 AM

Morning all. We also had a good turkey and we didn't have to cook it. No leftover but no mess.
