You must have either sold your P-cars or gotten tired of the repetitive questions on the Tech forum. There can't be any subject under the sun that wasn't resolved by the time Grady and Early_S_Man left.

I will say the very small difference between the 2 types of early S front caliper castings might lay buried in the archives and hard to find now. Probably a new string pops up every 5 years or so.

Oh, I remember Grady and Earl S man quite well, great stuff! Nope , still have 4 P cars and 10 more of other varieties:D I will have to update my signature:<)

I still hang out in the tech site some. They do actually have some new topics!

One is the improved shifter bushing I recently installed in my 911. One of the guys on the site machines them from a special plastic and it eliminates a lot of the slop in the shifter.

Another is Len, and his fantastic OEM type replacement fuel hoses.

And my favorite, is Charlie Griffith's AC upgrades. I have cold air on the hottest of days in my 911.

Oh, and one guy called Spoke has some nifty LED boards for brake lights and tail lights to make them far better.

Zeke 04-19-2024 02:27 PM

OK, LED's for old 911's. Nope, nope, no. I know one cat that is replacing his instrument cluster with digital screens in round shapes. Sorry. I couldn't even do white.

It is not a bulb, buy an array of small LEDs that fill the brake lights and make it much BRIGHTER. With no third light, it is nice to have brighter brake lights. I have just H-4 headlights and I like my sugar scoops.

The LED replacement bulbs for the dash instruments are nice when driving at night. My gauges are original except I added a voltage meter to my tach.

You said tail lights. I was talking about tail lights. I just threw the instrument dial color comment in.

GH85Carrera 04-20-2024 10:12 AM

My instrument light just make it so much better to see them at night. My 86 El Camino had the dim dash lights of the 80s cars. I had to paint part of the back side of the instrument panel to white, and add in a spacer just to clearly see the instruments.

I did not change my turning signal lights, just the parts of the brake light assembly. I was constantly fighting keeping both brake lights working as the bulbs sockets were getting old. The ED panel just works. I had to put in a ballast resistor to keep the cruise control working. He sells that as well for the people with cruise.

Today I get to play with my windshield squirters. The last time I tried to use then, I got nothing. Hopefully it is a easy fix. It is always messy working on the squirters and keeping the car clean.

Zeke 04-21-2024 11:14 AM

Well, if the sockets are wonky I guess LED is an option. I'm just so tired of super bright lights both behind me and now in front of me while cars sit at the light with the brake pedal pressed. One car looks like the Vegas strip.

Are these super bright lights going to help prevent rear end collisions? Maybe. They will get your attention. I've heard the a lot of older 911 drivers like a 3rd brake light.

GH85Carrera 04-21-2024 03:26 PM

The factory stalk thing on the engine cover is fugly. I might someday put in the light strip some are doing along the inside of rear of the roof vents. I know that vent is useful, and I hate to block the air flow.

I hate the LED headlights and insane bright headlights on so many vehicles. One other modification I did to my 911 is change out the rear view mirror. Now I have buttons to open either garage door, a outside air temperature display and compass. The big this is the mirror is auto dimming. When some dipstick in an overgrown SUV or pickup is behind me the mirror automatically dims.

And it is warm enough for shorts!

Porsche-poor 04-23-2024 07:44 AM

Morning all. Shorts might be the thing this afternoon here. Supposed to hit 70.

We have wildlife all around. Wife propped the door while bringing groceries in and walking in the living room to this:

A nice present!

We had our first meeting with some city officials today for the 2025 Porsche Parade here in OKC. It went well and we now have more contacts of the various people in charge of their part of the city.

One of the people at our meeting was the lady that issues permits for doing a 5K run or walk. She said to contact them a year in advance and it gets booked early. That is why I wanted a meeting with the city now, to get ahead of the pressure of last minute planning disappointments.

GH85Carrera 04-24-2024 07:48 AM

I skipped my shower this morning as I plan to mow. But the rain clouds are threatening. They may or may not bring rain. If they keep fizzling out, I will mow. If it rains enough to get the grass wet, I will wait until it is dry.

I will know soon when the clouds decide what to do.

Porsche-poor 04-24-2024 07:48 AM

Morning all. I get to wait just a tad longer to eat..............Fasting blood draw awaits me.

GH85Carrera 04-25-2024 11:37 AM

The yard got mowed today. It was near perfect weather for it. Overcast, and in the 70s with a breeze.

Porsche-poor 04-25-2024 12:51 PM

I spent most of the morning getting the wife's car worked on. A Knock sensor and the timing belt. Spendy.
