This picture really captures Minnesota in a nutshell:

Was based there for 7 years. I used to say that the 9 days of summer were the best anyplace in the world.

It makes me sad to think that this thing used to run all over Mpls., my Dad took it all the way to Lake Minnetonka when he was a kid: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251083859.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251083885.jpg This is the concession stand at the bandshell, I was standing approximately in the spot where I took this picture when the Apollo landed on the moon in 1969. Standing in the popcorn line. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251084009.jpg Check out this one-scoop ice cream cone: :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251084088.jpg |

I asked the little boy how the fishing was and he said, "it's good!" Then his dad said, "you're supposed to say it's bad." ;) :D |
I was supposed to be in Minnesota this weekend, but after all the nasty weather last week, I decided not to fly across the country in my little airplane.
No more tornados, but the remnants are still in the way. No thanks. The airplane is safely inside the hangar. |
Come on, it was just one little tornado.
|
Great pics, Denis! Whats with the Swedish flag? Yours? Friends? Unknown?

Edit: the first 23 years of my life were spent there. |
Just some Swede who moved to the true homeland, Minnesota. ;)
|
Yup, Minnesota is the true Swedish homeland. We're just waiting for the family left behind to catch up with us and settle in.
Tornado? That warn't a real tornado. I was in my office when one of the other guys, whose office overlooks the Convention Center came out and told us to look at all the trash blowing up in the air. He commented that the city must be dirty because he'd never seen so much trash blowing around. So we watched it (from the 45th floor of the IDS Ceter) for a bit before we got bored and went back to work. A couple hourse later it's all over the news that it was a tornado. |
I thought this was going to be a thread about butter

Byron was with you?
Very cool. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500658823.jpg Quick Sea Story: In 1995 I did a series of UH-60L Blackhawk deliveries to Alaska and the PNW - Army Reserve Units - from Bridgeport , CT. Five at a time, all in loose formation. We would generally stay in Madison, WI on the first night. Then head up the Mississippi River to Minneapolis, strafe downtown then get gas in New Ulm. Stop that night was usually Casper, WY. The pictures are all classified - too much fun in a beautiful State. |
Minnesota - Land of 10,000 lakes, 50,000 fishermen, and 2 fish.
|
I was in northern Minnesota over the 4th of July weekend. Seemed strange it stayed light out until 10 PM.
|
I have good memories of Minnesota particularly the Cass Lake, Bemidji area. My mother bought a holiday home(trailer home) on Cass Lake which she visited from the UK in summer only. Nice climate in Summer. Walleye, wild rice and good food there. It was about a six hour drive from Winnipeg, Manitoba. :)
