Suzuka

Are they trying to set a record for crashes during qualifying?

At this rate, they will be able to cancel Q2 because only 10 cars will be left undamaged...

legion 10-02-2009 11:07 PM

Seriously!

I've never seen so many crashes during qualifying.

5 so far!?

legion 10-02-2009 11:17 PM

Six.

Six crashes during qualifying.

That's what happens when you don't get to run on Friday.

Is it wet during Q?

nostatic 10-03-2009 09:28 AM

No - nice and sunny, but the grass was still wet from Friday practice which was pouring down rain.

Hope that gets Toyota another chance. They need to sign some really good drivers. They've had decent ones but not contendors. I don't know whether to root for Vettel or Barichello or Button - any would be great. I think I'd like Rubens best. Has Webber been confirmed for RBR in 2010? What a great track - when I set up my 1/32 slot track, it'll be Suzuka.

Suzuka is a very high speed track (140 mph average speed) with tricky curves and curbs into the gravel and tire walls.

The average lap speed is only bested by Monza at around 150.

As commentator D. Hobbs offers periodically, the drivers require a huge set of attachments to go flat out on some of these curves.

Wow, great track, snooozer of a race. It would of been nice to see some passes during the last few laps while the field was bunched up from the SC. Decent battles back in the pack, and I loved Kimi getting out in front of Heidfeld for fourth. At least the title fight continues.

I'm rooting for the old guy.

I get the feeling a lot of these guys just cruise around during the race. Its as if they know they'll have a seat next year & don't want to get close to anyone during the race. When they do get close, someone almost always goes off. Far cry from the Schumacher era. Say what you will about that guy, but he always gave it 100% or more. The bike guys are going for it every race, all through the pack. Much more entertaining to watch :)

Ok, so what the heck is wrong with Fisichella?

Kimi's a lame duck and only driving for pride and he's still doing respectable. Darn near podium driving in a car that aint the best by far.

Fishy is bringing up the rear, the only good thing is he ain't balled up the car yet. Is he saving it for next season? maybe doing R&D for next year's car instead of racing?

URY914 10-05-2009 05:00 PM

I don't agree. I would bet these guys give 110% and want to pass the guy in front of them in every race.

Aero is a huge problem. When they get close they start to lose the front. That's why we aren't seeing much close racing this year. I guess they tried to do something about it with the tiny rear wings, but I don't think its working.

I thought Fisi threw away one of the red cars during his first practice session a few races ago? He really is struggling... I think Ferrari gave up on this season and are developing next year's car.

Jenson sure will be an unpopular champion. He really sucks the 2nd half of the season. I'd rather see the old guy get it this year.
