So McLovin is obviously...

...the same guy as now-dormant user "the".

Doesn't seem to be making any more friends this time around.

I noticed the similarities a while back. Been sitting on it for weeks, figured I'd see if anyone else caught it. Nobody did.

So now I'm reading the BMW M5/CPO thread and he's stinking it up something awful, so figured I'd try a diversion.

Seems like a lot of hair-trigger posters on here lately, that would do well to just STFU once in a while. Post quality, not quantity...

Innernetz, the death of humility.

Was halfway through typing a much longer rant about some of the more oppressive posters on this board, but it just isn't worth it. Quality posters here are drying up like the Sahara. I even miss Soup. Gawd I never thought I'd miss that dirtbag (he knows what I'm talking about).

Carry on.

Who is/was "Soup"? I don't remember him.

Ooops, sorry, that's what I always call Superman.

I knew he was a PITA but wasn't sure who he was yet...

BRPORSCHE 10-13-2009 09:20 PM

I actually liked "the"

slakjaw 10-14-2009 01:18 AM

I liked "The" as well.

McLovin has a post just for him. How nice.

Its usually safe to say that someone that finds OT immediately after joining has already been here in another life. I'm never savvy enough to figure out who, but I can usually spot them. And dammit people quit changing your screen names without saying who you were in the signature.

Agreed. I had the same thought, but I didn't know who it was.

turbo6bar 10-14-2009 05:41 AM

Do we flog him before sunset?

Part of being an 'adult' on the internet is knowing when to take things seriously and when to be like the duck's back. This allows me to wade into PARF and not be insulted regularly. I absorb the brilliant nuggets and viewpoints and gloss over the crap.

Schumi 10-14-2009 07:22 AM

It took me 3 years to find OT after joining for 924/944 tech help.

I find value in reading of the experiences and advice from the OT community, as being that we're on a Porsche forum, a lot of people are relatively good decision makers and have plenty of good advice to offer in most situations.

Some people can't roll with just that however.

I still miss RedUFO - he could never tell me why fruit flies did or didn't like bananas.

I never had any problems with "The", so if he is him i could care less.

Fruit doesn't fly (unless thrown, of course).

Wasn't around for RedUFO but why would you care whether or not he liked bananananas?

We all knew he was/is a PITA. Wish his village would take their idiot back and put him in a padded room.

Surprised I have not put him on ignore yet as he has not posted one productive post yet that I have seen...

juanbenae 10-14-2009 08:14 AM

any idea who WilsonTC was? or maybe it was TCWilson? I sensed he had been here before under another handle. i am glad he seems to be all gone. maybe back under his original screen name?

ofter wonder about fly-bys by strange posters who seem to be in the know a bit too much for just pulling into town..

I think it's fine if you don't like McLovin or the or whatever, but to start a thread about it? That's when you know you need to go outside or work on your car or do . . . . something else for a minute.

The thing I like, or used to like about PPOT was it's civility compared to other boards. It doesn't take any talent to spew insults and f-bombs on the internet, anyone can do that, no real talent involved. What does take talent is to have thoughtful dialogue and discourse. As I've said before, I'd bet I've met more Pelicans in my business travels than just about anyone with the possible exception of Jeremy (Gogar) who I have met. I've invited him and many others onto the studio lot where I work for a tour. Do you honestly think I'm going to invited someone to where I work who spews insults at me on the internet?

The statement was made that 'Time flys like an arrow but fruit flies like bananas.' to whit he took exception.

The debate began as if in fact a fruit fly had the ability to 'like' of not. 'Like' defined as preferred was obvious. Fruit Flies do like bananas as well as other fruits - hence the name. RedUFO was of the opinion that 'like' required a higher brain function that a Fruit Fly was incapable due to its limited neural structure.

A classic philosophical dilemma that wasted much time and ended in no definitive conclusion other than the fact that much time was wasted and nothing was accomplished.

Not unlike most threads on the PPOT...

Just an idle observation turned into a minor rant about the gradual decline of post quality.

Your recommendation is noted, and one I frequently observe about others here. The irony of having it used on me for this thread is appreciated, thanks.
