man i lived for that show when it was on.
agree at the time it was very cutting edge. also agree it was no more 'out of touch' than csi and idiot tv people watch today. 'crime story' was fantastic as well. the music and cars on MV really were amazing. peter gabriel, phil collins (he was in an episode even!) and more. the show just had a vibe that engulfed you (at least if you were a 14yr old boy living in a beach town). and don't forget this possibly greatest tune ever featured on the show....captures all the 'vibe' for me....YouTube - GODLEY & CREME Cry ORIGINAL 12" EXTENDED REMIX [GOOD AUDIO]

And people away ask why I don't wear socks
![]() Well, I wasn't wearing them before the show either as on a boat, with Sperrys there is no need unless you like soggy feet..![]()

my topsiders always got nasty inside before they wore out from not wearing socks.
yup, i'll admit to being impressionable at the time. have since become a contrary bastard so this is no longer an issue.

i'll even admit to once or twice wearing a sport coat with a t-shirt.
yup, i was 100% dork in my early teen years. it's a shame too because i was a good looking kid living in a beach town full of hot chicks that left after a week of vacation. coulda got laid a LOT had i not been such a damn dork. oh well it all turned out good so i just look back and laugh.

I always Edward James Olmos as the police captain(?).
His suits were black and white with a skinny black tie. Kind of fit his character, I think.

I adored Miami Vive. It's use of music, fashion, famous guest stars, and stylish visuals, was ground breaking. Every guy I knew dressed ala Crockett, and I did my best to channel something between Gina, and the background hookers, haha. I'm even a bit embarrassed that last year I dated a guy for awhile because he had a Testarossa and a 34' Fountain. I finally dumped him. Partially because he never took either out, and mostly because he had trouble taking me out, ugh.
Women are like campfires fellas. If you don't tend to them, they go out on ya.

Holy thread revival Batman!
Show was absolutely great… hot chicks, cool cars, great music, cameo rock stars…. Hookers and blow. For someone not into those things, I could see how the show was unappealing |

On the subject of awful television, do you remember how bad Adam 12 was? Wow.

It ran for 5 years from '85-'90. Lot's of 80's eye and ear candy. The visuals were unlike any crime drama ever before (or since). Michael Mann production. Lots of guest stars and they actually paid big money for the rights to use period 80's hits.

My vote for most underrated is, The Monkees. Interestingly, I didn't see the show until I was 30. As a child my momma wouldn't let me watch it because it stared four hippies.

I once went to find the home that was Robin Master's estate on Oahu...it was actually much smaller than it appeared on the show. Built in 1933, it fell into disrepair and was torn down in 2018.
