Why would an asteroid be a molten ball in space? I ask because I don't know.

HardDrive 12-07-2009 04:26 PM

Look man, I'm stilling freaking out about killer bees. This is gonna have to wait.

Aurel 12-07-2009 04:35 PM

Asteroid hitting the earth is not the kind of stuff it is sane to worry about, trust me. If our creator decided to get rid of us, so be it. Not much to do about it.

I'm more worried about the caldera underneath Yellowstone. It's way overdue to blow and when not if it does, it's lights out.

cstreit 12-07-2009 05:28 PM

Duck and cover.

yup...any time now. It will make Krakatoa look like Mt. St.Helen's.

There's good money to be made in selling fear and panic.

Just ask CNN. Or George W. Bush. Or any insurance salesman. Or Bible-thumpers.

TechnoViking 12-07-2009 05:49 PM

I think we can avoid the impact if we launch a couple space shuttles armed with nuclear bombs to land on the approaching asteroid and blow it into two smaller asteroids that will diverge and miss the planet Earth.

The yellowstone super volcano is real, and a ticking bomb for sure. More than anything I would think it will be our demise in the near future. I not losing any sleep mind you but it IS a real threat.

And...please twll me why you need to worry about it? In other words, what could you do?

Gee, I've had a pretty good run of 66 years...so, guess I'd feel sorry for you young pups. If I had time to feel sorry about anything, that is...

Well, I live in the near immediate blast zone, so I'd go pretty quickly. You folks back east, though, would live long enough to deal with the nuclear winter, crop failure and worldwide famine. It WILL happen. Could be tomorrow, could be in 50,000 years, but it's a guarantee and there's nothing we can do about it.

williecoyote 12-07-2009 06:38 PM

That was really good!
It has already happened 6 times too!
So....maybe we'll get another chance when we screw this one up?
