It's been pouring daily for the last week or so here. The one day it wasn't, I had to work 14 hours  Eventually the lawn is going to get overgrown and the POA nazis are going to have a hissy fit, just not sure what the hell to do about it.

We've had a lot of rain for this area. Had 3 in. last Friday and another 3 in. on Saturday. We thought we'd wash away. I'd probably really panic if I lived someplace where it really rained.

the river is only 1ft above flood stage. floodgates in the seawall are closed. levees nice and high. no big deal. we get 10-12 inches+ rain in one day during a hurricane. it's just the day after day after day of rain. can't go anywhere, do anything.

Yes, tired of the soggy, gray weather. Supposedly, today is the last day of gray for us here in Houston for a week or more.

< edit > Yesterday it said that today was the last day, but now it says that we're going to get rain most of the week. < /edit >

Wah, Wah, Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.

johnco 12-15-2009 06:15 AM

One more day, and then some relief.

The good news: The Drought is over in Texas!

rattlsnak 12-15-2009 09:54 AM

yeah, we went from the worst drought in Georgia history last year to one of the wettest seasons on record this year!

Sounds like Illinois in October.

Here in Bloomington, we get an average of 2 inches of rain in October. This year, we got 14 inches. We had something like 12 consecutive days of rain that month and 20 consecutive days of cloud cover. The rain was so bad this year, that the farmers are STILL harvesting in December. They usually are done with harvest in October.

Pascagoula is pretty wet as well. 7inches in past 30 hours. (like a bad porno title).

Jackson/Madison is a total quagmire...I have a number of huge oak trees in my yard. Ground is so water logged a stiff wind will uproot them in a heartbeat. My more immediate concern is all the drenched leaves I've been unable to rake. Had the yard completely cleaned up and then the rains came and now tons of wet leaves are every where.

Isn't this setting up to be an El Nino winter?

Tobra 12-15-2009 09:34 PM

When you get 25" of rain in 12 hours, call.

We need the rain out here, and are thankfully getting it.

johnco 12-15-2009 09:44 PM

finally get a break from the rain tomorrow. only 20%. I'll be able to take my truck out for a ride again. without fenders front and back, I throw a 20 ft roostertail from all 4 wheels in the rain.... that is fun though

I was just in Ft. Walton Beach (Miramar beach) two weeks ago. Had some serious rain storms - enough to move everyone facing West to the other side of the hotel (Embassy Suites). Tornado warnings on the 98 as I was heading to the meeting ;) The wind was driving the rain into the West side of the building and got all the rooms (mine included) full of water. We got something like 6" of rain in 12 hrs... crazy to a SoCal guy...

masraum 12-16-2009 04:41 AM

40% chance of rain today, 30% tomorrow. Hopefully we end up with the big %.

Joe Ricard 12-16-2009 05:40 AM

Whoo Hooo it stopped raining for the moment.
Supposed to start up again later today, Thursday and Friday. Damn it.

With over a foot of snow on my lawn, I'd kill for some rain! :(
