They modeled her on some super hot black chick. I think it's the girl that played Uhura in the new star trek.

Smoking.

Zoe Saldana. See the references to image capture technology Cameron developed for the film.

James Cameron could probably get any movie he wanted approved. He has to be by far the most profitable director of all time.

Finally saw it in 3D - absolutely fantastic. The thing that impressed me about the 3D was that it wasn't overdone with crap flying out from the screen. After a few minutes it just seemed natural. Very, very well done and a feast for the eyes.

Raised the bar through the roof, indeed!

As for the "evil corporation" BS - no. Evil behavior - yes, that was definitely there. Kind of like real life.

As for the "unobtanium" thing, I thought maybe they were looking for MFI parts.

What is amazing is that both Titanic and Avatar were both projected to never make their money back and had no buzz whatsoever before their release and they both were record setting box office hits. Well Avatar might have had a little buzz, but nothing compared to a Spiderman or Star Wars release.

Avatar in Imax 3D was visually amazing. Story wasn't great, but together with the visual FX, it's definitely a movie to see in the theaters. I'm sure DVD sales will be great, but I wonder how many people will be utterly disappointed at the movie watching it on their 40" flat screens?

I saw it this afternoon, my wife drug me to it, I liked the 3d stuff, it was like an Edgar Rice Burroghs cross between his Tarzan and his Chronicles of Mars with John Carter.

Which we are making as I type (John Carter of Mars). We're in London now, and moving to Southern Utah in April. When it's released, I'll post some "Making Of" pics for you. But not until.
