Jay leno show cancelled....

The jay leno show has been cancelled, he will be going back to his old time slot, and conan anf fallon will be after.......

So my question is, did conan lose the tonite show? Or did leno fail at 10pm?

red-beard 01-10-2010 12:23 PM

Link?

There was a lot of talk last, but no definite decision was published.

As to part 2, both. Leno's new show was OK, but it doesn't compete against the other shows. Conan doesn't draw the old Leno audience, which is probably just going to bed earlier...

Fallon is way way too far to the left, and that really turns me off. I think his focus is on a much younger audience. It's too bad, Fallon has the best bad.

Leno had a show?

David McLaughlin 01-10-2010 12:46 PM

From what I read in the paper yesterday, Leno's show didn't do as well as had been planned but hay yet to drop below the promised number of viewers that NBC had promised it's advertisers. The Tonight show on the other hand had fallen way off and had lost viewers in every demographic to Letterman. NBC was talking about putting Leno on for 1/2 hour at 11:35 and them have Conan on after that. Because NBC has a 5 year contract with Conan to host the Tonight show, Leno's show will continue to be called just that.

TV in general has failed. It's been failing for a long time. Honestly I think it's a dying medium.

Conan failed because the network neutered him in his earlier time slot. All of his good edgy bits were gone, replaced by Leno-esque tame stuff. I never thought Leno was very funny, but Conan trying to do Leno was VERY not funny.

Both. I have personally always thought Leno was a terrible, terrible replacement for Johnny Carson.

The only man on earth less funny than Jay Leno is Conan O'brien.

The only talk show worth a damn on TV is the Craig Ferguson show.

He does have good taste in cars though. Frankly I'd be more inclined to watch him host a show about rare/exotic cars - kind of a video version of what he likes to do on occasional weekends north of Malibu anyway.

m21sniper 01-10-2010 01:38 PM

He'd be fine for a US top gear type of show, but as Tonight Show host i have always felt him to be a total disaster. I watched Letterman after the NBC Carson replacement debacle for a long time until his political views turned me off too.

Now i just watch Ferguson every once in a while.

Fallon sucks, Ferguson sucks too. Leno is da man, next is O'Brien and last is Letterman. IMO, of course.

You nailed it right there. My wife and I have been waiting for a US version of Top Gear hosted by Leno. He'd be great. He has the sense of humor, credibility and resources to deliver the goods in spades.

Turn on the Speed Channel and catch his jet car show. On now, I think...

Leno rules…Conan was a funny after wards act, he just needs to find his Hugh Grant!

Crowbob 01-10-2010 06:04 PM

Very predictable. In fact, it was predicted on 9/12/09.

VincentVega 01-10-2010 07:01 PM

Finally. RIP Leno.

Pretty much spot-on.
I pulled out an old Carson tape the other day and after watching it was almost in tears. Nothing on now touches it.
It's a shame what they've done to late-night television!

m21sniper 01-11-2010 03:31 PM

I watched a carson infomercial a few months back where they were hawking best of the Carson dvds, and laughed my butt off the whole time.

Late night comedy died with Johnny Carson. :-/
