Pleasure reading generally 1000+ pages per week, professional reading varies widely by week and on going workload and research needs. I went to an e-reader 2+ years ago for travel purposes as well. Much easier than hauling along 4 or more books. Recently pleasure reading has slowed in favor of maintaining and entertaining an 81 yo father. Next up "The Forgotten 500" or "Beyond the Zonules of Zinn".

Alot, mostly for entertainment. And much more than my friends would imagine. It's relaxing

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend, inside of a dog, it's to dark to read"

guess who? Most already know.

Generally a book and 4-5 magazines a week and the paper every morning.

Yeah, but don't you fly planes? The only time I have time to read is when I'm sitting on a plane :)

Wow, I feel like a slump compared to most of you guys; but I read on average an hour per day. I knocked off 11 books in December, which is high for me. January is more like 5 or 6, which is likely more my average.

During the summer, I tend to read very little; maybe 1 or 2 books July and Aug.

Now applying what I read...... there's the trick ;)

Not at much as I'd like anymore. Used to devour several books per month. Could read 1000-1500pp a day easy when I had time. Did manage to knock over 2 novels and one non-fiction inside of a week between Christmas/New year which isn't bad considering everyone was on holidays (try reading a lot when the kids are home!).

Worst for me is that I usually don't get to read until bedtime...and I find myself dropping off, book in hand, jolting awake, re-reading the same stuff over and then repeating the cycle...doesn't make for enjoyable reading that's for sure. Read a lot online - newspapers, journals etc daily. But it's not the same as a great book!

Getting a lot of pleasure watching Miss Charlotte (12) rip through books. She keeps her Mummy poor - I buy her books probably 5:1 ratio to me. She will read for hours and we have to argue about "lights out, no more reading - the book will be there tomorrow for you" every night. That's a nice argument to be having :).
