Yep, way better than Blind Faith IMO. I was listening to Tales of Brave Ulysses the other night. One of my favorites.

I also absolutely love "White Room". If you've ever ridden a train cross-country, the drumming almost perfectly replicates the random sound of the wheels going over breaks in the track and the cars swaying. The kazoos and tympanies create the sound of an old steam locomotive surging as it gains traction and pulls away.

2001 KW W900B...or it has a hood ....Cat powered ( 490 HP ) and a 18 speed road ranger.... it's bad boy special ordered from the factory. It's an amazing piece of equipment.

It's currently a 3 axle dump truck ....we're cleaning out catch basins with the county that filled in the recent rains because of the " Station fire " in SoCal.

I'm a bigger Cream fan, but the Blind Faith record was pretty unbelievable. Not my personal favorite, but probably Clapton's best work. Go find your Live Cream CD's and listen to 'Sleepy Time Time'. Or, 'Spoonful'. Every guitar and amp should sound like that.

Clapton has always needed a foil equal to his talents; how sad it must be that you reach your zenith playing against Duane Allman and then never reaching that high again. And Jack Bruce has always been way too full of himself. Nice to see that Winwood and Clapton have been touring together.

Thanks for reminding me of those tunes :)

I remember seeing The Cream in South Miami for $1.50. For you Miami Pelicans; it was at a place called The Stage. Not long after that Jim Morrison was at Dinner Key, and got hauled off to jail.
Thanks for the memories Bob.

The live version of crossroads is awesome. I mean Jack Bruce just buries Clapton on the solos. You can almost feel the dirty looks from Clapton across the stage. Awesome stuff from Jack.

Reminds me of a story I heard years ago;
late seventies, early eighties, a classified ad in the NYT, or Rolling Stone, or the Voice, 'musicians looking for work',
"Journeyman drummer looking to join a band" (or words to that effect)
- turned out to be Ginger Baker.
Don't know if it's true, but I always liked the story.

Jack Bruce was a bad, bad, man. There are actually two live versions of 'Crossroads'. One is from the Winterland show, I forgot where the other is from (maybe the Fillmore West?), but either way, the more famous version is the one where Clapton has the misstep in the last lead.

These guys were so bad ass. It blows me away that they were only around for ~2 years. I wasn't there to see any of it, but even in the recordings, you can tell that they were absolutely fearless live. They could take a song in any direction they wanted for any length of time and then bring it all back together like it had been written that way. It must have freaked out the people in audience at the time. Just awesome.

And I always thought the greatest perk of driving a big truck was seeing down into all the cute chicas cars!

That Winterland version of Crossroads gives me chills everytime I hear it, especially that second lead. I'm constantly in awe of what this generation of musicians accomplished and often wish (usually once a week or so) that I could have been in this world to experience them live at their peak.

If you haven't read it already, I highly recommend Clapton's autobiography-a very entertaining read.

I've been listening to a lot of good music recently on Sirius "Deep Tracks" while driving in my car. Lots of good music that never gets played on then radio...

Sea of Joy

YouTube - Blind Faith - Sea of Joy - 1969

Do you think the camera man was high ?

Winwood being so young hadn't developed good control of his voice.
