BMW 135i?
I am seriously thinking about replacing my 2004 VW R32 (amazing car, by the way) with a BMW 135i Coupe. While the R32 has been (for the most part) a great car, it has 91,000 miles on it & I am ready to move on.
Anyone own a 135i or have experience with one? I haven't driven one yet, but I have read many very positive reviews about it. Thanks for your comments & insight.

The 1 series has been out a while, but it's still a pretty uncommon site, even in "BMW rich" areas.
They must be a blast to drive. That twin turbo 6 puts out the power, and it's a pretty small car. I think the biggest thing about it is the looks. You either like it or not. |

I always thought it would be cool to get one of those 3 series hatchbacks and drop a big six in it.

As for looks, at first I thought they looked odd, kind of like a 3-Series that had been squished. However, over time I have come to like the looks. I haven't seen many on the road either...which I like.

I drove one briefly and liked the way it drove a lot.
Small & fast & rear-wheel drive. Very nice. Only complaints were the steering felt slightly numb. And I hate the interior almost as much as the interior of a 996. In Germany they call it the "poor man's Porsche".

I wish it were lighter -- I love the shape, and the engine, but it is too heavy.

I don't see why anyone would take a 135 over the 335. Its tiny/ugly and hardly any lighter than the 3. The price different isn't much either - maybe on the used market (since its so ugly, you know?).

Make sure you look into the HPFP and turbo's failing problems...they are no longer "just a few here and there" problems, especially the HPFP.

FWIW I think the lines on the convertible are ok, the couple, not so much. Finally, I agree with Serge944. Spend the extra $$$ and get a 335.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a HPFP?

I did a search, and I'm guessing HPFP = high pressure fuel pump.
