The company I work was the proud sponsor for the exhibit of Chagall’s works in San Francisco a few years ago. We had a poster made displaying one of his paintings, Shakespeare's Hot Summers Night in our lobby to remind the employees of their “FREE TICKETS” to this fine exhibit. Within the day of hanging this poster in the lobby we were told to remove it immediately. Yes, one person found it offensive and interpreted it as bestiality and demanded it be removed immediately. It doesn’t matter the painting is a world famous piece of art hanging in museums, the CEO of the company had taken part in the selection of the piece for the poster, ALL that mattered was this one person’s opinion, and to hell with everyone else. A classic example of to hell with what the majority wants, we have to cater to the individual’s rights. Also reminds me of the old corner bar where all the retirees go for a few pops and have their cigarettes by the side door, a new guy comes in and says he doesn’t want to be around the smoke, so instead of leaving, he calls the police on the place because it’s about him, not all the old guys who have been going there for years.
