More Mexico violence
I was in Tucson yesterday and talked to an Hombre that was at a birthday party last week in Sinaloa. They were attacked and 8 people died. He said that the gunmen made them lay on the ground and that anyone who looked up was shot. Two men next to him had their heads blown off and he had blood and gore all over him. He was born and raised in Mexico but said his days of going back are over.

I also have no reason to go south... poverty, poor sanitation, crime, don't see the attraction.
|
Wow, I bet that's a life changing experience.
|
Ya think?
Jeez. Unlucky bastahd. |
You mean lucky bastard. He's alive.
|
I suppose. Alive but no doubt scarred for life.
I can't imagine picking chunks of brain out of your hair is something you get over quickly. |
I spend altogether too much time in Mexico City fixing broken airplanes. I always ask that I get an English language newspaper every day at the hotel. In years upon years of doing this, I literally cannot remember a day without news like this. They are in a civil war, a corrupt government vs. a less corrupt coalition of drug cartels. The government is losing. They probably should - the cartels actually treat the people better. From what I have seen, they do not do things like this unless something has gone awry with government officials who have crossed them (after accepting bribes), or if some locals took government bribes to inform on them. If that's the case, the "justice" meted out by the cartels is swift and sure. They don't just do this at random. They need, and in most areas, enjoy the support of the people.
|
But the cartels are at war with each other.
|
Count me among those who see no need to go south of the border...seems to me it's not just drugs. USA citizens being kidnapped, robbed, beaten...
|
Wars often inflict collateral damage.
You don't think the Cartels or police take US Military levels of precaution to not hit civvies do you? Seriously... |

We are such hypocrites in the US. Sit around smoking/snorting Mexican drugs while *****ing about how screwed up Mexico is and how their government cannot control the cartels. It would be nice if we as a populace would wake the F$#k up. In the meantime, we can support our neighbor by buying LEGAL products made in Mexico, and spending vacation money in safe places.

It's our gov't that perpetuates and empowers these Cartels....not the American people.

I'm pretty liberal by most standards but I get tired of the "It is Americas fault" BS...
Mexico isn't responsble for the fact that crime is rampant in their own county? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269119780.jpg |
Hey bro, if you have some plan to win "the war on drugs" that you should be sharing with the rest of us, now is the time...
My solution: Legalize all of it, end the killing. Legislate it, regulate it, tax it. Make a freaking killing off of it. |

But that is another thread... Back to my original point... America being the root of all (Mexican) evil... Nevada has done a good job of kicking organized crime out of Las Vegas... I hear Columbia has become much more civilized... why can't Mexico get it's act together? |
