Hospital day on Pelican

I was going to post this earlier ( while waiting at Dartmouth -Hitchcock) but decided to wait till my wife got out of the OR.

She had a tumor removed (non cancerous) that had been affecting her hearing.
Two surgeons and almost 8 hrs. in the OR. Pretty scary sheite.
There was concern that she might lose control of some facial muscles ( Drs said the muscles seem to be OK) This will however leave her deaf in one ear.
She will be in the hosp. for 4 or 5 days while they monitor her recovery.
I’ve been sweating bullets all day.

In the risk of getting this bumped to tech. I wonder if she will let me get those SSI’s and M+K now that it will only sound half as loud?

Pete,

I hope all is well with your wife and she comes through ok. Your post hits home, one of my good friends who is a PCA instructor has been diagnosed with a benign tumor on his ear nerve and is facing the same surgery, lose hearing and save facial nerves. My prayers go out to your wife and family.

John

A friend of mine just had a similar surgery. Unfortunately he did lose some facial muscle control but given time it might come back.

My mom's neighbor, Pat, just went through exactly the same procedure. The pulled half her face forward to operate.
Sent her home early.
The dip**** doctor gave her T 3's for pain. Suffered unbelievably. I would like to kick the doctor in the nutsack.

Just back from (2nd trip) to the hospital.

Man these Vermont farm girls are tuff.

10am she decides that a chair might be more comfortable then the bed so after
getting her to a sitting position (still pretty dizzy from the operation) she gets on her feet and shuffles over to a big recliner they wheeled in. I couldn't beleive it.

I left around 2:30, went and got our kids at school and we came back at 6:30.
She's still in the recliner!
Swelling has gone down but under her eye is all black and blue now.
Surgeon came in for a visit and said she was doing great.

Thanks for all the well wishes.
