When I was 32 years old I thought I knew everything. Now, here I am 31 years later (age 63) taking advice from 32 year olds , who seem to profess to know everything. When my 1985 Carrera was built most of these guys were in high school. Maybe I should think twice about all the advice I'm getting. One thing is certain, ask a question here and you get the full range of opinions, I just didn't realize that most of the respondants are old enough to be my children, perhaps even grandchildren. I'm sure I will get many responses that I am an old fart and that the young have taken over, that is OK, but the young tend to make quick impulsive decisions that sometimes have no basis in fact, i.e. educated half-assed guesses. I think I will look more closely at the bios of the people who are providing the answers to the questions that interest me. I have noticed that the bios provided to Pelican are rather scant., who are you people and what do you really know? I suggest that everyone update their bio data, if you have valuable experience don't be ashamed to boost.

Dannov? In my 58 years on the planet, most "valuable experiences" are the experiences I don't think I'd care to post here, or admit doing, let alone talk about. Experience is the best teacher, no doubt. But when it comes to technical information? Pretty easy, after a while, to know who really knows their stuff here. I'll admit, I'm not one of them...I consider myself to be among the students. One of the best technical minds I ever met on the early 911S? He was born in 1971...meaning he was one year old when my car was built. But when he tells me something about the early 911S, I believe...because when I questioned his comments, then checked them out? He's been 100% correct so far. Age is relative, I guess...unless you're 42, trying to convince a college co-ed that you're 23...

Hey Tyson...my daughter is 31. Now working on her 2nd hubby, and she DOES know everything. What is amazing about this is that I don't even have to ask a question...she just tells me the answers, all of them.

As one of the older guys on this board, I'm going to share my favorite old guy saying. It's "The older I get, the better I was." I bet some of the older guys can identify with that, and I think some of you younger ones will discover it's true !!!

and off of the bike & without the cycling shades

hmmmmm, maybee us older farts need to start our own thread wherein we discuss such facinating topics as which seats minimize backaches, which tires are easist to turn in the parking lots (older cars w/o power steering), the joys of tiptronic after suffering with a bulky 915, how to minimize back injuries when changing tires, the need to change our brake points on the track as our reaction time slows down, etc, etc.
-- Of course, we would expect Wayne to provide us with an appropriate old-fart discount on all our purchases. Right, Wayne? - Chuck |

age
Looks like the '30 somethings are really active in this list. 55 in years, but still feel like 35. Do not have one of me personally, but this is at Thunderhill after a pass.

My grandfather once said to me that he has gotten stronger in is old age. When I asked him what he was talking about he said with a grin on his face "when i was 21 I couldnt bend it, but now i can". He past away 5 years ago but his sense of humor still puts a smile on my face when I think of him.
I dont need to explain what he was bending do I ?
