Just watched it last night and it was good. Cage's voice/accent/delivery was a bit weird. Was he trying to disguise his voice while in costume? I had to warn my Fiance not to let her 11 year old son watch it when it came out after I read the reviews. She thought it was a kids movie from the ads.

Funny story... took my kiddos, 3 and 6 years old, to see "How to Train Your Dragon" (Good movie, by the way) Afterwards, getting into the car, my 6 year old daughter says, "That movie is kickass!" My heart skipped a couple beats and I nearly passed out. "What did you say?", I asked. She pointed at the marquee and says, "That movie, right there, it says kickass." I laughed the whole way home.

Don't go expecting anything and you will enjoy it. Parts are a bit low brow but the whole film works on a fun time, B-Movie way. Starts getting good when the cute little girl arrives and Nicholas Cage shoots her. But I don't want to say too much...
IMHO, the little girl makes the movie!

I saw it on Tuesday. Rather disturbing watching a 8 yr old kill violently murder people and say the C-word.
Good movie all and all but would keep my kids and wife far far away. |

Watched it last night. Came in with the expectations of loving it, came away that it really didn't work for me. This movie shows I must be getting old. I'm sure the young movie goers get a kick out of seeing comic action mixed with really graphic violence, but I found it relatively unfunny. I've seen worse, but won't be seeing this one again anytime soon. Seems it was continually trying to shock with violence, language, and the age of those that are doing it. Oh well.

this movie was rather oxymoronic...watched it last night.
...although it was like looking at a car crash, i couldn't keep my eyes off it. it was probably one of the most hardcore "ghey" movies i've seen. it was weird to see the "kill bill" type of killing done by an 8 year with purple hair watching it one time was enough for me

Just got done watching the movie.
I really, really enjoyed it. My wife hated it. Way too much violence for her. I thought the violence illustrated a point: that if you don a costume and fight bad guys, expect to end up dead in a very gruesome manner. Kickass didn't find any real success until he hooked up with people that knew what they were doing. The rest of us probably won't be so lucky. This is the first movie with Nick Cage where I really enjoyed his role, he didn't overact it for once. For the record, Nick Cage is one of the few Hollywood actors whom I generally dislike his movies/roles, but I think he is a way cooler in person (from what I've heard). Yes, his "Batman" voice was to disguise his identity. Everything about his character screamed paranoid over-caution. I thought the Mindy character was superb. She was really the star of the movie IMO. Where Kickass mostly got lucky in fights and could take punches because of his "condition", that little girl did some really impressive stunts.
