Sunday Drive
These are pics from my week end drive.
It looked like a nice day so, I desided to go for a drive rather than the gym. I left the house at 8:30am, topped the gas tank off and headed south on HWY 395 to Nicely's in Lee Vinning for the Sunday special a half fried chicken W/ soupe, salad, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. On the way, I took a left on HWY 228 to HWY 338 which takes you off the more heavily traveled and policed HWY 395 to a curvy road with literally no traffic. It's only a slightly out off the way but, much more fun to drive. Yes, I did light it up a bit but, not too much, didn't get too crazy. I arrived in Lee Vinning a bit early for lunch and desided to drive up to Lundy lake to kill some time before lunch, check out the beautiful moutain lake and continued to Nicely's in Lee Vinning about 10 miles. The fried chicken was great as usual and the restaurant was full so, I sat at the counter next to a guy and his elderly father who was a native of the area. I said to the older man,"I bet you know all the good fishing spot arround here?" With a big smile he said, I know a few." Anyway, after the big meal, I took a more liesurely ride home. It was a nice scenic drive and and the trees are beginning to change color. The next few weeks should be even better, providing the weather doesn't get nasty. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1285539918.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1285540005.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1285540083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1285540147.jpg |
Nice trip.
I think i,ve been thru Lee Vinning. Is it near mono lake? Beautiful part of the country. |
Hey Pete,
The pics I took of Mono didn't turn out well. Ten years ago I was taking road trips to Conway, NH in the New England's White Mountains. |
We have some nice mountains around here for sure, but you've got MOUNTAINS.
I'll never forget my first trip to the left coast. I was in awe of the scenery from the WY. line on out. I can still remember the return trip through NV. at night with a full moon.... you could see the mountains to the north like it was daylight. |
At the top of Conway summit is the turn off for Virginia Lakes, a must see! 9700 feet on the lodge door step . Been going up there for over 30 years, just Gorgeous!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif
