Bose Headphones
I am a Bose 901 speaker fan, but not sure the headphones are worth the premium price. Are they? Any alternative suggestions?

Sennheiser, Panasonic . . . a lot of companies make very good noise cancelling headphones without the Bose hype.

I have Grado, can't beat the sound BUT, they will fall off if u move around a lot and the wires get twisted easily. This is where I bought them, they are great and will answer any ?'s. there are 2 of these on the internet but spelled differently.... yhink they're out of Montana? Best Headphones of 2010

Check out AblePlanet NC100CHA . You'll pay around $50 on Ebay. No... they'r not Bose, but they're hard to beat for the price.
I have a pair for using when I'm working at home and need to block out background noise and have been very happy with them. |
I bit the bullet and got some QuietComfort 15s recently. Money well spent and totally transforms my travel experiences. Its like being in a cocoon :) Sold me so well, I sprung for the Aviation headset for flying. Highly recommended.

That's the reason I got the AblePlanet headphones. When she wasn't allowed to use the UflyMike setup I had her Bose headphones. Once it was all approved again I lost them and bought the AblePlanets as a replacements. |
cool! thanks for the reply.... I think I'll try it out, you saved me some bucks, thanks again

The wiring inside the 1/4" connector in mine shorted a month after the warranty ended. Customer 'support' suggested that it was great that I could buy a replacement for 2/3 of the original price, I passed. I had never heard of such poor components, will definitely never buy again.

Both the Aviation-X headset and the QC-2 (I have both) are well-designed and work very well.
I suspect the newer the model you get, the lower the quality will be (this always happens as companies cheap out and try to cheapen the production of a brand in order to increase profit margin by taking advantage of a given product's reputation). The new stuff is all made in China now too - virtually nothing is made in MA anymore. However I cannot say I've had any problems or issues per se with either of mine other than the batteries tend to run down quickly and without power/batteries either headset is inferior to plain-old passive counterparts - so make sure to keep the batteries charged. |
As they say, No highs, No lows, it must be Bose!
I have a set of Sennheiser's and have been very happy with them. James |

Motion, did not know you were flying? What in? |
Joe, I'm a wannabe right now. Still taking lessons in 152s and 172s. Some day....

I have QC3's that I use at work to drown out the office noises and they are starting to fall apart. They still function, but the jack on the headphone takes a bit of "jiggling" sometimes to get the sound back. I've not contacted BOSE yet about it, but it's mainly due to me using them every day I think. They are going on three years old and many continents of travel at this point.

I'm old school, Koss Pro4A's.

I fly a jet for a living and everyone knows that jet pilots are chit hot right? That 70 year old taildragger will kick my azz most of the time when I first hop in it, especially on landings, until I get current in it again. The old timers say "you fly a tailwheel airplane from the time its untied until its back in the chocks" and they are right. |
I bought some Sony ones for less than $100 and think they're great.
