It's amazing how the newer glass cockpits do away with so much of that analog instrument clutter..

Wow, very cool. There's something neat about the extra clutter of all of the analog gauges.

How would you like to re-wire that dash!

Old High tech.

The flight path of the Concorde from Heathrow was about 60 miles off the south coast of Nova Scotia, I live in the Annapolis Valley, about 50 miles from our south coast. On quiet Sunday mornings, around 9 AM, we would hear a faint rumble, like distant thunder and know Concorde was on time.

Last summer I met a Welsh fellow who had been an engineer working for an aerospace firm engaged in doing the flight controls for Concorde. He claimed the flight controls were "almost last minute, after they got the engines and airframe sorted."

Great people. Amazing airplane.

And you have to know everything and how it works, and stay ahead of it at a very fast pace.

Really sad to see this old bird grounded. There was nothing wrong with it that is not the same thing with thousands of other planes and it should still be IMHO flying.

Do we really not have the technology to develop another super-sonic jet that is cheaper to fly and/or can carry more passengers?

sure we can, but lots of people don't share this sentiment....

The only "engine", if you can call it that, which I cannot stand is a Hardly-Abelson.

Amazing how all those steam gages have been replaced by a little flat glass panel.
