What's going on in Arkansas?

First a massive bird kill, now 100k fish are dead. Both north of Little Rock. Toxic dump or terrorists?

Idk, I considering spending the weekend climbing near there, glad I didn't now....

A930Rocket 01-02-2011 03:38 PM

I heard about the birds, but not the fish. Same area?

The blackbirds have been swarming here lately. To lose a 1000 would be a drop in the bucket. Maybe Alfred is behind it.

Some of the nastiest springtime-type lines of violent thunderstorms, lightning and hail went thru here New Years' eve.

Have seen this before with lots of cloud->ground lightning.

I'm in Huntsville, and we had some of the same, but not as widely reported.

They said the bird died and fell from the sky around midnight. I thought birds didn't fly at night.

RWebb 01-02-2011 04:36 PM

many birds fly at night for migration & use stars to navigate with; others hunt insects at dawn & dusk

WTF...

Blackbird deaths: Sign of apocalypse as thousands die on 2nd New Year's Eve in a row? | Mail Online

Anything that was flying anywhere near this area at midnight last night got blasted out of the sky with fireworks.

The fish kills happen a lot here too. Usually something goofy with unseasonable weather followed by a bunch of rain. It really messes with the water in the ponds & lakes.

rouxroux 01-01-2012 02:19 PM

fireworks spooked 'em.

VaSteve 01-01-2012 02:48 PM

Do you all have fireworks on July 4 down there? Same thing?

on2wheels52 01-01-2012 03:06 PM

We were asleep by 11 but I expect there were a few fireworks launched at midnight.
