Floor Jack?
What's your favorite floor jack?
|
I don't always use a jack, but when I do, I prefer air-hydraulic.
I use this one from Greg Smith Equipment. It allows me to raise my Kwiklift, without bending over and putting a lot of strain on my back (age and back surgery). The handle locks in a vertical and 45 degree position, rolls easily, and has its wheels arranged so that it pivots extremely well. Anything that doesn't start with a "C" and end with a "N."

what do u wanna spend?

Its not the most lowpro, but the Michelin's they have as SAMs occasionally are really nice...
|
I've got a 2 ton Craftsman that's built like a tank. Going on 25 years with it. Then I have an aluminum Craftsman that's a POS and crapped out in a couple years with light use.

Low profile is a nice feature, but perhaps lift height is most important.

I plan to get one of these Ranger lightweight jacks for the track
Aluminum jacks, speed jacks, racing jacks at discount prices from ASE because the knockoffs i've tried (Torin and Harbor Freight/US General) have both broken on me. Luckily nothing fell or no injury happened when they failed. Both were very new jacks used properly w/no overloading. They truly are POS in my opinion. The funny thing is a friend has one of the Harbor Freights and loves it to death, never let him down, what a great deal, treats it like dirt and keeps asking for more...... blah blah blah. Not me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not buying one of those POS a third time or I might end up dead! |
Arcan XL35 - 3 ton jack, low enough profile to get under the front of the 911, 100 bucks at Costco
Buy two, spend the extra $100 on beer. |

Twin piston 3 ton aluminum from HF has been a good jack for me. 149.00 on sale. It has been the paddock whore at our events. Probably 3 cars a week for tires on and off so it has lots of up/downs.

Pelican Parts.com - Low Profile Hydraulic Floor Jack

Got my money's worth out of a Costco Kawasaki 24v cordless impact gun too. $48 lasted two seasons of track day work. But buying another POS cheapo is just a pain & a waste of materials. Bought a Craptsman C3 Li-Ion impact that hopefully should hold up longer. Sorry for the OT tangent Old craftsman is pretty good. Had a trolley jack from when I was kid that finally crapped out~ 5yrs ago. 15yrs. is not bad for an economy hyd. jack like that one was. New chinese craftsman stuff is like most everything else nowadays- not built to last, built to wear out and be replaced by the next model. |
Ranger
Automotive jacks, hydraulic jacks, floor jacks, garage jack from ASE http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1295484838.jpg Very fast. Lifts close to 30 inches. going on 6 years of use, no problems. A tad expensive. |
