Summer Trip

Trying to plan a route for this upcoming Summer. Last year I did Montreal and now I plan on staying within the U.S

It's looking like I want to fly into Denver, rent a car, and drive this route through Colorado. Just me, my fishing pole, and a tent. I have done some extensive backpacking so not really interested in any of that. I'll have a day pack with me if I see anything neat and want to go for a short walk.

What say you PPOT? Can I do this in 7 days? Obviously I'll have a AAA trip tic and GPS with me. Anything I should include? Just trying to come up with a route.

Thanks guys.SmileWavy

Also, if you know of any other fantastic drives please share them.

Edit: Here is the route....http://www.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Denver+International+Air port+(DEN),+8500+Pe%C3%B1a+Blvd,+Denver,+Colorado+ 80249-6340&daddr=telluride+to:San+Juan+National+Forest,+ Bayfield,+CO+to:Colorado+Springs,+CO+to:Denver+Int ernational+Airport+(DEN),+8500+Pe%C3%B1a+Blvd,+Den ver,+Colorado+80249-6340&hl=en&geocode=FSgOYAIdwM3C-SlFb-oT_WdshzG1iQByZdQOPg%3BFVbhQgIdQ-qS-Slz9OZwe9g-hzHh47pxIXfuOA%3BFQnJOAIdZNOV-Sm5ntALsqg-hzHsX6b77wX1fQ%3BFdqOUAIdjY3A-Skr0uahLkEThzETa-j1kuuOQQ%3BFSgOYAIdwM3C-SlFb-oT_WdshzG1iQByZdQOPg&mra=pd&mrcr=3&sll=38.479395,-106.248779&sspn=5.322654,11.612549&ie=UTF8&ll=38.5 13788,-105.776367&spn=5.320117,11.612549&t=h&z=7

Your route looks great.

But, since you're about a nine iron from Mesa Verde and Four Corners, I'd put them on my list.

I don't fish so no recommendations there.

Great trip. Enjoy.

I went to Mesa verde and Four Corners about ten years ago. So thankfully I won't need to go that far south. Obviously I'll be spending a bit of the time in the car. Are there adequate KOA's or campsites I can pitch a tent overnight along this route?

P.S Aurel your thread on trout lake expedited my searching.
