F-100s are cooler anyway. They should've left it at F-100, 250 and 350.

The Ford / Ferrari thing goes back a few years.... I think Ferrari is still bitter 'cause Ford beat them in the GT40's.
Wouldn't be surprised if the name was chosen as a snub towards Ford... those crazy Italian marketting folks!-Z

It's an absurd notion to think that anyone would confuse the two in any way. It's a pretty sorry commentary on how worthless our society has become, to think that Ford must defend the usage of an essentially meaningless grouping of numbers and letters.
There are millions of counterfeit products that reach the market every year that might be a better target of an attorney that is needing a little business. JR |

Looks like Ferrari folded.
Ferrari changes car name to 'F150th Italia'? ESPNF1 Staff February 10, 2011 « Kubica out of intensive care, teams show support The Ford F-150 pick-up truck and the newly christened Ferrari F150th Italia © Getty Images Enlarge Related Links The Pits: Ford suing Ferrari over F150 name Teams: Ferrari Ferrari appears to have changed the name of its 2011 Formula One car to the F150th Italia. On Wednesday Ford revealed that it is suing Ferrari for calling its single-seater the F150 - a Ford trademark in the USA, used for its most popular pick-up truck. Following the reports of legal action, Ferrari has twice referred to its 2011 car as the "Ferrari F150th Italia", as testing resumes at Jerez. In an official report, Ferrari said there had been "two million hits from 149 countries for the Ferrari F150th Italia on the Ferrari site" and the link from its main website to the car's website has been altered to display the new name. Ford said it is seeking to prevent Ferrari from using the trademark in the US, where the F-150 has consistently been one of the best-selling vehicles in recent years. "Ferrari has misappropriated the F-150 trademark ... in order to capitalise on and profit from the substantial goodwill that Ford has developed," Ford said in its lawsuit.

Ferrari gave a reason for the F-150 name. To paraphrase and simplify, it's one digit after F-149 and one before F-151. Ferrari won't profit at all from the F150. In fact, it will cost them an arm and a leg. Anybody stupid enough to think they might confuse a pick-up truck with a racing car that nobody here will ever see in person? I usually defend lawyers, as my brother is one (technically, anyway) but the language in that lawsuit makes me want to shoot all of them, today. JR |
