Irony...
February 10, WDTN 2 Dayton – (Ohio) Hazmat cleanup needed at Calamityville. It turns out a hazardous materials cleanup must happen before Calamityville opens in Fairborn, Ohio. The facility will help train emergency first responders in all manner of natural and man-made disasters. However, a chemical called TCE that is used in industrial cleaners was found on the site, and it exceeds the legal limit. According to the Xenia Gazette, a contract was awarded to A.S.T. Environmental, Inc. to begin cleaning Calamityville. The facility is expected to become fully operational in 2012. That is happening right down the road from me and I didn't know anything about it.
In the 1970s we used to run autocrosses on that site. During WW2 it was base housing for Wright Patterson AFB. The houses were gone but the streets were left and we would use the old streets. For several years it was the "back 40" for Wright State. They threw their old vehicles and industrial junk back there. All kinds of stuff could have leaked out. |
Irony is so ironic...
