I was at the Daytona 24 race the year Foyt stepped out of a failed Group 44 Jaguar (big surprise) and into a Porsche Prototype. He had never driven a Porsche before. He soon set the track record. He ended up winning the race.

He was good. I know he was a little arrogant. I do not know how badly.

Correction: AJ was driving a Aston Martin powered Nimrod that year. He couldn't fix in a Group 44 Jag if he had to.

Saw it last night and it was great. I'm no student of F1 and was not a following it at that time. Sure it was biased. I felt like some of his dark side was shown. It was obvious he took Prost out on purpose in Japan. If not planned, in the moment he pushed way to hard way too early. The interview with Stewart was a great moment in the film. His immaturity in announcing his move from McLaren and how that backfired was also instructive. No doubt he was very talented but also troubled and impulsive.

Comments and views are interesting here. At the level of F1 racing, the minds and offensive skills of these drivers are beyond us. Yes there are some pro level racers on the Pelican boards and maybe they can relate more but until one has actually had some seat time in any open wheeled tub, even from F Vees, FF, Skippy's or other, you just begin to understand how immense those F1 drivers are. Some comments of robust chassis and taking advantage of that, cutting off others might not be exactly as you see it. Yes these F1 drivers may fued along with intensity on or off the track but has to be extraordinary to get to the podium, yet they all live with respect to each other. Please, but do you really think in F1 someone actually plans to crash another out? No way.

Maybe not currently crash into one another, but it happened in the past, and now there is the renault controversy.

Dug up this old thread as I watched this movie/documentary last night. I thought it was well done, they vilified Prost a bit, maybe unfairly but it did a good job at setting up the rivalry and almost making you have to cheer for Senna. The politics, and the inside look at those drivers meetings, great stuff to watch! My girl who, A. wasn't going to be "into it" because it was another car story, and B. wasn't going to be "into it" as it was another documentary..... was totally moved by it. Asking questions about this guy and that guy, criticising the politics of f1 at the time, she was crying at the end. She had asked me during the show if he was still alive, I lied and said "I cant remember" as if I had said anything else I would have given away the ending. Plus with the occasional shot of Nikki Lauda in the background it set up the perfect opportunity for her to understand I'm going to see "Rush" on the big screen....with or without her!!!!:D
