1987 BMW M6 Coupe
On an off chance - looking at something else (yes, another Porsche) - I ended up looking at one of these on the weekend. One owner, private sale, very low miles, all sorted, dealer serviced, I'd say pretty well concours, no accidents, all books, records etc. etc. Being a Porsche guy, I don't know much about these - or where to look for info. Nice car, though. Great looking lines. What are they (really) worth these days? Thanks folks!

No idea what it is worth, but one of my all time favorite body and motor. If you end up buying, please post pictures!

The M6 is a great car and if the price is right I would give it a thumbs up on a buy. Great motor and a car that's built like a tank.

I really like the model but I have a slight preference for the normal version without all the spoilers, a bit like on a 911.

There are two 1987 M6 s on Ebay right now, one is I think 27K, the other one is serial number 001 for the US market, it might get expensive too.

I also found my 635 from a private seller. It's not the M model. I love the car so far, very solid, great driver, but not a hot rod because of the "autobahn" gearing. They are fairly rare here, since I think they only made them for the US in 86-88, or 87-88. It sounds like you found a great car as far as it's history goes. I'm no expert, but I would guess between $8000 to $15,000, possibly more. Hope this helps. $27,000 on Ebay sounds great, but lets see the money.

The E24 is a nice car if you get one that is in good shape and has been maintained correctly. The drivetrain and suspension are pretty much all E28 5 series. However, all of the body and interior parts are E24 specific and the prices will add up quickly.
I've owned both a 635CSi and a 633CSi. They are nice cruisers, but keep in mind that it is a big car and for the most part will handle like so. The M6 is a whole other beast. Figure double the cost for engine parts. 27K is about on the mark, I'd say.. Nice thing about the M6 is that you can get close to 50HP by adding a chip. |

The yellow duck beak is owned by the previous owner, shown in the pic. He's a professor at Penn University and one heck of a nice guy. You should see his collection of great BMW's in a old barn, wonderful. Yes they are big cars and don't handle like my old e36, which was a pocket rocket, but as I get older, I like the ride and comfort.
