I had never shot a handgun other than my S&W FS40. Then, one day at the range, my co-worker, a competitive shooter, allowed me to fire his 1911. It was so smooth, so controllable, it just felt right. When I get the $, I'd love to buy one.

This year is also the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Fort Lauderdale. Frank Stranahan would be proud....even if his ghost is not allowed into his [still existing] home.

Someday, when I can justify adding another caliber to the collection, I would surely buy one. I am a big fan of the Colt Commander. That size would work well for me.

My 15 year old daughter fired my M1911A1 a few weeks ago and she did fine, the narrow grip provides a very comfortable, natural shooting position.
