Bin Laden dead:

Yawn...

Gogar 05-01-2011 08:20 PM

Apparently you still do need this forum.

Gogar 05-01-2011 08:28 PM

This is the third thread in the regular OT about OBL. Clearly lame, and not worth my time, yet I feel compelled to post on it.

speeder 05-01-2011 08:38 PM

I got it from the person next to me at the restaraunt I'm in, not a forum. Apparently it's a little more interesting than I thought, we killed him and have his body. I figured that he died of old age waiting for us to find him.

Sounds like somebody ratted him out.

porsche4life 05-01-2011 08:39 PM

Well there was a $25million bounty on his head....

pwd72s 05-01-2011 08:39 PM

For a million dollar reward, I'd rat you out Denis...;)

m21sniper 05-01-2011 08:41 PM

I heard Osama was taken out by Obama using forum jumping man eating sharks.

ODDJOB UNO 05-01-2011 09:30 PM

Kinda doubt that he bounty is going to be payed out to people who are already payed to do that job. probably will go to somebody who did the ratting out...

Mind you, if it were up to me, the team ought to get that 25 Mil

US Soldiers (sailors, etc) are not eligible for the bounty reward.

They will not need it. Every person in the good old USA will be very happy to buy these gents a beer or three. They well deserve it!

It was Navy Seals? God bless them. This will live forever as THE high point in the history of an amazing organization.

island911 05-02-2011 08:53 AM

I do wonder who got to Neil Armstrong that one small shot to the face. --will we ever know his name?

jeffgrant 05-02-2011 08:56 AM

Not to pick nits, but SEAL is capitalized.

speeder 05-02-2011 09:08 AM

You're right, Jeff. My bad. I have a childhood friend who is a former SEAL and it's always "SEAL team" whenever he says it.

Lets not forget their taking out the three pirates from Somalia who hijacked the cargo ship not too long ago. This, and many other missions that we will never know about are all high points in their history.

If you have never known any SEAL's, Delta, SAS, or GSG9 personal, you have really missed a lot. They are "the best of the best" we have.

m21sniper 05-02-2011 09:45 AM

Why on earth would they use SEALs to attack a mansion in Islamabad?

why not? It was a spec ops mission, they are specialized in spec ops.
And obviously they were trained, equipped and available to complete the mission successfully... 'nough said.

They have a lot of high points. Still, this will be a red-letter day in their storied history. And the one former SEAL I know is a great guy. If he came to a Pelican gathering, he would blend in as just another nice guy. Zero bluster or big-mouth bragging, even when he's drunk. He only talks about his Navy career when asked and then he'll talk about it like it's nothing special. Like he would talk about fixing diesel engines in a ship or something. But the SEAL team info is fascinating. When I brought up the Somali pirate incident, he mapped-out how it probably went down as though he was there. He said that the scariest job would have been the divers who were in the water next to the pirate boat, they would have boarded the boat immediately after the shooting not knowing if all pirates were dead or not.

When I brought up the darkest day in SEAL team history, (operation Redwing), he personally knew several of the killed SEALs, trained w/ them, etc. Interesting guy.
