Not so fast Robert. You're making some assumptions.

1). I *hate* hockey! Go Mariners!
2). I have dual citizenship. Mom was a yankee.
3). See 2. I tend to lean towards the U.S.A. when it comes to sport.

Doug, isn't that always the way? When you've got it, you can't stand it, and when you don't have it, you want it! :D

We've got that great boofhead indulgence called "Australian Rules Football", where 220lb men race around and crash into each other with all the elegance of a prison riot. None of this NFL order or even Rugby's gentlemanlyness (sp?).

I have to resort to cable TV (ESPN) for Ice Hockey here in Australia as it's the only way I'll ever see it. GO PENS!

As a child, growing up in Canada, you are literally *submerged* in ice hockey. You're inundated with it. It becomes larger than life for so many children, they end up loosing their minds when they fail to make the NHL.

I was lucky. I played with BATTERIES!

Ok come on Doug, Hockey isn't forced here in Canada

But I for one am glad that it is. I LOVE playing hockey, I admit I don't watch all that often. Maybe 15-20 games a year mostly playoffs. But the Olympics are different. Then I even watch womens hockey. I am soo glad it will come down to Canada vs USA. It'll be nice to beat you guys on your home ice :D

Hey the women did it last night and the men will do it Sunday!
Go Canada eh

Shawn

The other night? Maybe it was at Band Camp? I thought I was going to the fights? But a hockey game broke out? :D

Those canadian women just got lucky. ;) The men won't be so lucky! I can't wait till this game, but they better show the whole game on the regular NBC channel, I don't have cable. Those fools at NBC only showed the last 6 minutes of the womens game last night. And tonight they did the same thing for the USA game, I missed it either way because, believe it or not, I was at another hockey game. I currently have no voice and the worst headache ever. GOD I love this game!!!

Remember the name Zack Minjock!

stray15 02-24-2002 04:28 PM

Yeah, good game fellows!

Congrats to the Canadians but geez, the results we devistating. Growing up on the Iron Range (place in Northern Minnesota where half of the US hockey players come from) I to was submerged in hockey, but I love hockey. Then moved to California where they go "hockey?" Anyway, we lost both! I really thought the mens had a chance at the end of the second period, but oh well, 4 more years to prepare for gold.

I don't give a rats ass for hockey, but I am proud of the participants nevertheless.

Q

Hey josh912, I was up in Bemidji last week at a 80 team curling bonspiel...now that's a way to have the winter go by fast! And all you Candians, be honest...if you didn't want to play hockey when you were growing up, there was always a curling rink nearby, eh?
Our club is getting 20 calls a day inquiring about membership since the Olympics gave all that air time to curling...also didn't hurt that Leno and Letterman lambasted it every night...stirred up quite the interest!
