All of the carriers have implemented similar systems... You won't have unlimited on ATT if you reup your contract....

I was watching a show on Natgeo about the tornados last month. One guy had a EF4 tornado bearing down on him & he couldn't take his eyes off his Iphone. I love this commercial.
I have internet at work & home, not worth it to me.

I'm new to the smart phone arena myself and agree with others that now having had one, I could not imagine being without. I love the design of Apple products, but I ended up getting an Android phone for one major reason - Swype. I'm horrible at typing on a phone and swype is the best invention ever IMO.

Very happy with the iPhone. I got it for international travel with AT&T, the Verizon one won't work in Europe or much of any where else. when I got mine two years ago. Don't know if the Verizon one will work in Europe now.

Get off my lawn!

I was one of the guys that resisted a smart phone. I just wanted a telephone that would make and receive calls. Then my dad gave me his old retired iPhone version1. I played with it as a wi-fi only toy. Since I owned it I did not need a contract to call and get it activated as my main phone. Now I have a iPhone 4. I don't see how I can survive with out it.
OK I can live without it, but I would not be happy. Just today I was working in the yard. I used it to stream music to my headphones as I did the yard work. I need a new blade for my edger so I took a photo of the old blade with the model number on it. I can go to the mower shop, show him the serial number from the photo and get exactly the right blade. I have several different lists of notes. As I remember something that I need to get, need to do or whatever, I just make a note. Since it is always with me I can look it up and remember what I need to do. The weather apps alone are worth having a smart phone. Since I live in tornado alley I have several apps for that. I get a alert if the a tornado is in my area. It does not bother me if it is many miles away. To see color radar of what is going on right in the area where I am is worth it. There is little doubt the reason so many died in Alabama is because they did not receive a warning that a bad storm was on the way. I knew within a 1/4 mile where the storm were that just just hit the area. Having Google at your beck and call is just something I can't give up. A smart phone is as necessary as air conditioning. It is not vital to survive, but in my mind it is worth it.

A couple more things I like about my iPhone4...The camera is really quite good, as is the video. In fact, a couple weeks ago I taped it to my V1 radar detector & took a really good video of a "valley run" one morning.
The iP4 is a very high quality piece - has some "heft", the screen is amazing & I am so very glad I got it.

Swype is the best keyboard for phones or tablets. I REALLY wish it was an option for my iPad.

Glen, the weather is a biggie for me as well. The ability to quickly check radar and receive instant watches and warnings is literally a lifesaver in the midwest.

Weather not such a big deal here. It could say 70's & sunny or 50's & overcast...either would be mostly correct mostly of the time. LOL.
Love smartphones. If you are already invested in Mac then iPhone all the way otherwise Android is a great choice. |

I question the need for Flash on the iPhone or any phones. I need my phone for light e-mail, very light internet, some mini-apps, maps and GPS. Most of the rest is fad crap. And I'd be better off with a Tablet for internet browsing.

I question the extensive use of flash on the net, but it's there anyway. It sucks to try to pull up a site on the iPad only to be thwarted by flash. I think they (phones and tablets) need to support flash until/if it goes away.
