flame away...
|
Well that's rich....
|
I feel sorry for you young ones who never saw these race for real...not a historic venue, but for real.
|
Would have been nice to see a whole field of them running hard.
This will have to do... http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7936076_n.jpg KT |

Hal Shaw & I were friends...(see his name on the '78 Porsche Cup poster)..I remember him telling me that the 935 wasn't really that great in the twisties, but that it was "A great drag racer" down the straights. Watching them run, I had to agree.
Hal died too young...a tragic road accident. :( |
I almost titled this thread: "Hey, Paul!"

I really enjoy seeing 935 flame pictures....
It always bothers me to see flames...Since if you are seeing flames that means the throttle is closed... and fuel is just being dumped...and igniting..:p |
I would love to be able to do that on the street.... at night. Should get the tailgaters to back off a touch, eh?
|
I never did reveal that I was in the pace car for this race!

A Chinese student around here drove a Honda Prelude that did that. Just a whole lot of cam overlap. |
I fell in love with cars after seeing my first e-type jaguar.
I fell in love with Porsches after seeing a 935 in action. I was working at a hill climb in southern Oregon. A fellow showed up with a 935 and proceeded to hand every car including the formula cars their butts. Lucky me, I was working a corner with a long straight just before it. Full throttle, then on the brakes, 'round the corner, then hard on it again. Everything about the car was bigger than real life. It accelerated harder, braked harder and fire shot out the back end. Love at first site. angela |
