I swear my wife and I just had a discussion about this very subject. Neither of us have facebook or any other networking profile - She is 44 and I'm 51 - we don't see a need since we are happily married and middle-aged w/no kids.

She is also very private by nature and feels that the whole personal networking sites are a gold mine for wrong-doers to steal info/intel/pics from profiles.

Just this past weekend - her brother (who is a OTR truck driver) was out of town since Sunday and his wife posted that info on FB - Monday night two (strangers) guys knocked on the door and then tried to break in and rob her. She was able to shut the door and called the po-po and nothing really happened after -

We later found out she has her address posted w/her profile!!! Good G*d !!!

I have a facebook account, but I don't really use it. I have some family in other states that I'm connected to, and I am connected to a bunch of folks that I used to work with. I'm also connected to a bunch of folks on Linkedin. Even if I don't do anything on either one, the fact that the folks occasionally see my name is low key networking. It's been years since I've gotten a job any way than by a referral of someone that I used to work with.

I just keep my activity to all of those things to a minimum.

Your post is confusing, do you log on into her account, or did you make one for yourself?

Anything a person posts, they can exclude certain people from seeing. I have my facebook in groups, and often, I may exclude a group from seeing a post, or limit it to just one group.

About 50% of my facebook are people I know from racing, most of my friends are not into racing, so I'll often make a post that only those involved in racing can see, or a post those involved in racing won't see. You can also make a post only one person sees, or exclude only one person.

I had no idea, I wanted to segregate my family from some folks that I used to work with so I created a group for my family, and a group for the folks that I used to work with. Apparently, when you add folks to your own little group, they all get a notification that you've put them in a group. So it's best if you don't create a group named something like "people that I really don't like".

Fortunately, I did NOT do that.
