Has anyone convert propane BBQ/stove to natural gas BBQ/stove?

I thought it's just the connectors that need to fit. I went to home depot and the gu told me the converting kit has several thing, include the burner (stove). I asked why replace burner? He said because the presure is different. I know pressue is diff. between propane tank and natural gas in the pipe, but do I have to really replace the burner/stove?

It has been several years but I recall changing the jet and the connector in mine, not the burners.

Bigger jets and a regulator for natural gas. Call the mfg, they should be able to send you the parts. We make the change when there's a need to use an old BBQs for the outdoor kitchens we sometimes build. No need to replace the burner. Those guys at Home D have no clue what they are talking about. Propane flame is hotter. You decided on your recp. saws yet?

He just is unaware and shouldn't be giving advice. Regulator may ell be adjustable and you need new orifice for each burner. Go to your local gas/propane store...they will put you in the right direction. Done many of these over the years as well as gas dryers.

Just changed mine over last weekend. We had natural gas at the old house, so I had purchased the conversion kit. To go back to a propane setup, I reversed the process, replacing the jets in the burner tubes and swapping the temperature indicators behind the burner controls. Not too difficult, but broke off a few corroded screws while I was at it.

LP and natural have different flow rates.

As already said already, different sized jets is all you need.

Since you are going to natural you can simply drill the jets out to the proper spec.

My Weber grill has a conversion kit. As far as I remember it was just in the connector.

Ive done 3 different grills, the only thing I had to change was the burner orifices to a bigger size. And I was able to do that by just drilling them out bigger. you dont have to touch the regulator

You can just change the jets...

After much study... we decided the diff was negligible and just hooked up the BBQ as is... works fine.

YMMV

I swapped out the regulator on the old Charmglow 2000 to burn natural gas. On my King Cooker, i drilled put the orifice on the regulator for natural gas and both methods have worked well.

My natural gas BBQ came with propane jets. I believe that's all that you have to change on mine.

"few thousandths larger hole". What's that, "thousandths"?

Thanks guys. Many options, but look like the easiest is just drilling out the orifices and jet?

Look171, No saw yet. I want to go with Ridgid full size but Home Deport doesn't carry it anymore. I look in the internet and they are all over the place, especially Ebay, but I rather do HD with warranty. I will wait for a while. Worst case, Ebay then.

Scott, you have to look for different adapter/fitting, correct?

Of course it will work. Gas is going through to the burners. There is not not enough gas to produce enough heat.

I wasn't there when he hooked it up but I don't think it is anything you couldn't get at home depot. (then again he probably had the fittings in his garage)

My dad is a HVAC contractor... we did the math and you loose a few BTU's.

If it is not hot enough for you you can change the jets.

Have had no problem cooking steaks/burgers/dogs on his gas BBQ
