Haboob

What an amazing video out of Arizona yesterday. Mother nature brought a huge wall of sand over Phoenix. They interviewed the people on the last flight in. Scary stuff going on in the world as 2012 approaches.

actually i could not see much as i did not have my goggles on and the dust got in my eyes and really really hurt so therefore since i am not STOO-PID, i retreated indoors!

my pool is wasted, everything covered in dust and i mean everything. it was a bad mo-fo. saw some video of an aircraft leaving mesa gateway airport trying to take off for deer valley airport and beat the haboob. pretty scarey for that pilot.

I had to drive INTO that beeyotch last night. I still feel mildly sandblasted.

ODDJOB UNO 07-06-2011 10:33 AM

get this: amigo who lives in maricopa(aka da "copa") got up this morn and had 1" of dust on EVERYTHING! street/driveway/outdoor furniture/his truck.

he also got the value added bonus of wifey leaving his trucks windows OPEN for this "historical"(hysterical) EVENT!

just called me going north on I-10, with windows open and vent fan on high, and he still cannot see his gauges nor his floor mats.

now think about this for a moment...........................

did YOU have 1" of dust on yer dash/yer seats/your floormats this morning for your drive to work enjoyment????????????

this aeropuerto is essentially CLOSED! so much dust that ingesting this crap into your intake is sheer SUICIDE for yer engine and possibly for yerself. i cant even see the mtns around us right now there is still so much dust in the atmosphere. cant see from one end of runway to other end. drive down taxiway here and you may as well be on some crap baja ungraded road that hasnt seen rain in the last hundert(hundred) years!

pwd72s 07-06-2011 10:42 AM

It made the local news here last night. Evidently, 1,000 feet high? Ouch!

Rick Lee 07-06-2011 10:45 AM

My pool looked like a swamp after this. We really need a good rain with some wind now.

3000ft +AGL(above ground level) and SIXTY-ONE MILES WIDE!

dats from national weather service phx based at sky harbor intl aeropuerto.

NWS quote was: "a very very large historical weather event!"

just spoke to my pool guy amigo................backwash pool every 2-3 hrs until pool water clear or it will BEFOUL yer filter and cost YOU/ME gobs of money to repair when pump overheats and dies due to filter being clogged.

i already backwashed mine until clear at 5am this morning. at lunch i will run home and do it again. and whn i get home this evening i will backwash again until its clean.

backwash until water exiting hose/pipe is clean. about 2-4 minutes worth.
