Engine Porn

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1312231712.jpg

If you have ever been wondering just what a 1973 911 T engine looks like the day it was delivered, this is it.

This is the engine of a 911 with 10 miles on the odometer. Remanafactured by Porsche AG. It was at the Porsche Parade Concours today. More photos to come.

Henry,

Aaron just completed my 2.5 L ss (with Mod-Solex and 40 PMOs).

Well he keeps telling me that I should get rid of my red Ignition Wires!!!!

Do you think that he is right??

OH, great looking engines. (And Aaron did a FAN Frigin Tastic job on my little motor. BUT PLEASE DON'T TELL HIM OR ANYONE ELSE;))

Shuie 08-01-2011 06:25 PM

HOLY @$#&!

Follow that!

Henry Schmidt 08-01-2011 06:36 PM

Plug wire color is a personal choice. The purist will insist on black and they have every right to choose the color of their own plug wires.

I would think that Aaron's perspective on color might be slightly skewed.

"I'll believe that when me s**t turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet." Super Troopers by way of Aaron Burnham ;)

this is what a FRESH(sassy) 1987 PCA SHOWROOM STOCK LOOKS LIKE!

dynoed @ 1-BILL-YON HP!

you must be type rated for this extreme HP and also type rated for C.R.A.P.! (cabriolet racing and performance).

or how days of my life were gobbled up cleaning parts, buying parts, cleaning parts, fitting parts, buying more "while yer in der parts."

or how i spent a hell of alot of hard earned money on something that sits in my garage waiting for the track.

we also just recently updated to a spal fan on the rear decklid condenser. this sounds like a freeking hovercraft at idle and scares the CRAP out of any and all competitors.

also we were just type rated and certified and trained in using ,handling K&N filter socks.

note zoomier than hell carbon fiber fuse cover on left of engine bay. we SAVED .0000001 of a pound of weight. this was directly attributed to us getting over the hump to that magical/mythical 1-BILL-YON HP rating.

and you guys thought it was EASY being SHOWROOM STOCK!

Nice stock air filter... :D

ODDJOB UNO 08-02-2011 04:15 AM

rules state i may upgrade air filter, upgrade exhaust to headers and remove a/c belt.

please note a/c belt is NOT REMOVED nor EVER WILL BE!

since we are traveling faster than the speed of sound, and wearing 4 layers of nomex(inc gloves/socks/baclava/shoes), it tends to get rather warm and we need the a/c or suffer a fate worse than death.

wait til ya see how much money we can poo out on the just around the corner a/c uber doober upgrade so we dont melt down upon re-entry!

I have my doubts that the plastic air cleaner ever looked like that, fresh from the factory. It is a rough-molded one-piece affair that suffered from an inconsistant supply and quality of pvc (or whatever raw material was used) during the molding operation. Mine was almost two tone left-to-right. I still regret sanding it and shooting it with a matte black epoxy to get it to look like the one in the picture. Also, the throttle bodies were natural metal finish, not painted black.
