Cooking question: Anyone ever make Osso Bucco with Beef Shanks?

I know the recipe calls for veal shanks, and when I have made it in the past with veal, it's turned out well.

I have a big group to feed next weekend, and was thinking that Osso Bucco with beef shanks would work, and would help keep the costs down a bit.

Online recipes say they work, but I am looking for some first-hand experience.

TIA

I've had it with beef shanks, made by a friend as I watched. Divine.

That is what I use, regularly. Up until recently I couldn't get veal shanks here. Use the beef, it will be delicious.

i do all the time.

have the butcher do the sawing. a beef shank can be huge! i cut mine in half because my dutch oven is not that huge.

i like it better than veal.

(try it with turkey drumsticks sometimes..amazing)

I've used beef shanks and I've also used lamb. Wonderful either way.
