Can't buy a faucet in CA

Something new, low lead law. WTF? I thought the EPA was the most serious lead nazi. Amazon and partner sites won't sell me a bathroom faucet unless it "qualifies" and they really don't know much about that either.

I guess I'll have to have one of you buy it and mail it to me.

Sucks.

Ummm.... did you try getting in the car and driving to Lowes or Home Debit? Or is a special order none of the big boxes sell?

Jared at Pelican Parts 10-03-2011 11:04 AM

I bought a replacement Moen last week with no problems...

stomachmonkey 10-03-2011 11:08 AM

If you want to buy it and have it shipped to my address I'll turn it around to you.

Let me know and I'll PM info.

kanadary 10-03-2011 11:35 AM

Milt,

No sales tax in Oregon. One of the few good things about living here. Anyway, what are you looking for? If it's available at Home Depot, I'd be glad to buy & ship.

That is, unless Oregon adopted the same rules...it often does.

There is a difference in quality if you buy a faucet at Home Depot/Lowes vs. a plumbing supply place. Biggest difference I've seen is that the internals of a Home Depot/Lowes faucet are all plastic vs. metal components in the more expensive faucets not available at HD/Lowes.

Perhaps Milt, being a man of wealth and taste, won't settle for second rate. :)

I could check with a local small plumbing supply...might take ordering, tho. Depends on how hurried Milt is..

Had a friend pick me up a gallon of real Verathane in Phoenix and bring it back to SoCal for me.

Kingston Brass KF470 Double Handle 4" Centerset Bar Faucet

azasadny 10-03-2011 06:16 PM

I just threw out a 4 year old Kingston Brass kitchen faucet. It was solid brass, but it leaked constantly and had cartridge issues. A plumber friend of mine took a look and said "throw it out". It was $300 and the replacement $80 Moen is much better. I hope all of their products don't suck as bad as the sink I had...

yes, the low lead or was it no lead content is coming. Many of the home depot type places are started to discontinue older faucets. Lot of the upper end faucets have a sticker or some kind of writing on the box that claim low lead content. Did you get your lead cert? I still haven't gotten mine. do you have yours? I am not sure if I am going to get it, thinking I should if I am going to keep working. One reason I have not gotten mine is that I just don't feel like giving in to those f'ers. I am very tire of them leaching money and time out of hard working people like myself just so that they can huge a tree. What's worst is that a toilet is no longer good if its 1.6 GPM as of 2011. It had to be something like 1.36gpm or some BS like that. I am not sure what the exactly number is, but it is something stupid like .2XX GPM difference.
