syncroid 10-08-2011 08:41 AM

I wonder what will become of the Raiders now? I personally won't miss the man.

Joe Bob 10-08-2011 08:43 AM

Bet they used a Black and Silver stake thru the heart to make sure.....

RIP Al.

Say what you will... He was his own man, no one else like him. He was the Raiders.

Baz 10-08-2011 09:15 AM

Say what you will but he left behind a legacy of winning at all costs like no other team ever has....I LOVED the Raiders in their prime!

Well said Mike - couldn't agree more. We should have more people like him in sports!

Some fan comments at Silver and Black Pride:

R.I.P. Al Davis, 1929-2011 - Silver And Black Pride

Say what you will about him, but you can't deny what he accomplished with da Raiders. Saw him one time on the sidelines back in the 1970's when they were playing the Chargers. Went to see Johnny Rodgers more than the Raiders to tell you the truth. Madden was so big and Davis was so little.
,
RIP Mr Davis

A legacy of hiring low-life players with moral and ethical issues that no other team would touch, a legacy of low-class teams and even lower class fans. And they haven't won ANYTHING for a long, long time except for the most penalties prize every year.
I haven't rooted for a raiders team since Bo Jackson.

The local pizza parlor around here closes down at 5:30 pm on Mondays if the raiders are playing on MNF because there were too many fights and arrests.
Every low-life gang-banger wanna-be bad-boy is a raiders fan around here, and that's all thanks to big al.

There is NOTHING about the raiders that deserves respect or emulation. They represent many of the things that are the worst parts of our society.

OH, did I mention that he totally screwed over and ripped off both los Angeles and Irwindale?
No tears being shed here for al. To suggest otherwise would be hypocritical of me.

Sam, you are such an angry guy, I bet you keep your blood pressure high all the time.

I don't like the Raiders much, particularly in the last 20 years. That said, you can't deny that he accomplished a lot, particularly in the 1960's, he was loyal to his people, and would not stand for it if he felt he was being wronged.

He ripped them off, right. So they should have been able to recover that money from him without a problem. I am pretty sure he picked the team colors before any of those gang bangers were born. So is it the Dodger's fault that a prominent gang uses their colors too?

I agree with you a lot, but you are about an ignorant, opinionated MFer on a lot of stuff.
