Ca proof of insurance question

Got pulled for not having up to date insurance. I just didn't have a up to date card with me. Do I need to set up a court date and show proof. Is there an easier way instead of this big waste of time. Thinking about going to the court house down town to straighten this crap out today.

Depends on who pulled you over. I think you can go to any office of the jurisdiction that pulled you over to get them to sign it off.

LAPD. That would be any police dept? Actually, I was pulled about 3 miles from my home.

when you receive the ticket it should provide the corrective action.

IIRC I had to bring proof of coverage to the courthouse clerk.

Same experience here. Just show the proof that you were covered on the date of the infraction and they'll toss it right there.

In our area, you just take the ticket to the PD that wrote you the ticket, show them the proof of ins and that's it...

I just looked the the traffic court web site with my ticket number. I owe those bastards $880 for not having the up to date card with me. Holy siht. I better go down to the court house right now.

that is supposed to be like a fix it ticket, show the proof you were covered and that is all

LA County is probably different

JUst found out after 2 hours of running around. Has the cop check it in the Fix it ticket instead of the other box, I would have had it signed off with proof. Now I have go to court and proof it there. Playing God is great isn't it? Thanks for all your advice.

FYI, you're still going to have to pay costs and fees and what not.

I hope is not $880.00, because the bastard did not give me time to actually look for it in my messy glove compartment. He was busy pulling someone else over.

It's not $880. That's the bail amount if you did not have insurance.

You should have told him you were an illegal alien . . . errr . . . undocumented worker.

I hear in California, that's the equivalent these days of having Diplomatic Immunity for these silly little rules and regulations.
