The styling has grown on me I really like the back. It's great without the wing reminds me of a tvr.

If willtell is right about the weight at 2822 pounds that is a little disappointing with 200 hp. Congrats to them they've made a 944S 20 years late

I found another article that says 2775 lbs. I guess we'll have to wait and see the final numbers.

2013 Ford Focus ST | Focus ST. Experience the Thrill. | Ford.com

This sounded interesting (no pun intended)..

The muscular high-performance exhaust system peeks out through a central dual-pipe design at the rear of the vehicle. It’s tuned to deliver a confident growl under power. And to help make sure you hear that rumble of excitement coming from under the hood, the Focus ST is equipped with a sound symposer box. It’s designed to enrich the natural sounds of the vehicle by capturing internal engine oscillations and piping them through the interior.
It doesn't specifically say (or I missed it), but since they talk alot about torque steer technology I assume it is FWD. By comparison the Subiyota is RWD.

I'm interested. I will at least take one on a test drive.

That is a surprisingly good looking little car. Hopefully it will not have the "high waist" look of all of the new cars, where you can't see out of the rear windows. The low and deep engine should keep the entire waistline lower on the car.

It is FWD. Here's a quote from an R&T article on the Focus ST: "The 2012 Ford Focus ST employs a variety of technologies to increase the car’s agility without sacrificing ride quality. As managing torque steer on a front-drive chassis always represents a challenge, Ford addresses this with its new Torque Steer Compensation System. Rather than limiting torque to the front wheels, the TSC works in concert with the car’s electric-assist power steering (EPAS) to counteract torque steer. The EPAS system has also been tuned to provide ample feedback through its variable-ratio system in tight cornering while at the same time adding sufficient weighting for precise on-center control during high-speed cruising.

The Focus ST also has electronic stability control with three modes: standard, reduced or wide-slip mode, and off. The car is also equipped with Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control, which is independent of the Torque Steering Control system. This system applies the brakes to the inner wheel in cornering to reduce understeer in both power-on and power-off conditions.

Overall the suspension has been tuned using upgraded shock and spring settings, which help lower the ST’s ride height for a lower center of gravity and a more aggressive look The rear suspension has been revamped with new suspension knuckles, and there’s also a new anti-roll bar design."

The Subi/ Scion was nice, just disappointed that they weren't going to offer a turbo version. I think Ford is really going to gain on the WRX/ Evo/ A3/ Speed 3 crowd.

I'd say the Speed3 and the WRX are in the same "class," but the Evo and the A3 are in two completely differnet classes altogether.

I heard Toyota and Subie were working together to bring back a "Celica" for Toyota and a 2 door for Subie based on the same car.

Looks like it came out a little different than expected, originally I'd heard the Toyota would be FWD, and the Subie 4wd. I guess I didn't keep up with it enough past initial info a few years ago. I was looking fowards to see what they did, so far, doesn't look too shabby.

I think you meant to say STi.

The WRX and the Speed3 are basically a draw.

AWD is for hipsters and little girls.

It appears that they're all RWD.

A used boxster S/Cayman S will spank this car in every direction. Let alone a 20 year old 968.

The styling is god awful. Take away the badge and I don't even know who the F makes it. Mismatched lines feel like they were pulled from all sorts of 'whats hot' these days but nothing jives. 200HP in 2700lbs (it will be 2800+ fully loaded) isn't worthwhile these days- a late 944 turbo has better power-to-weight. Give me a new Solstice GXP instead.

How much does it cost to to take a 2012 Cayman S off the showroom floor?

You can't buy a new Solstice. Production ended in 2009.

I'm very interested in one. Small, rwd, decent power, hopefully Toyota reliability... perfect for hauling tofu through the hills.

btw, it's more than an improvement on the original.
