Ski Weekend

Gentlemen, enjoy yourselves this weekend. I am currently posting from a friends couch in San Francisco. We depart for Lake Tahoe in eight short hours. The snow isn't too good right now, but there is finally some in the forecast.

We rented a 6 bedroom house, 10 guys, only minutes from the casinos. This is sure to be long weekend. Wish me luck I make it back in one piece.

Winter sucks here in Canada this year because of a lack of snow.
Skiing lessons tomorrow 9:30AM for the kids, then skiing all day. Freaking poured rain earlier this week, at least it turned cold and we have man made snow
Nice living >10min. from the ski hill.

We are planning a week trip to Quebec or Vermont, but their conditions are not much better, just might end up going to BC the end of February or early April instead.

Have fun!

If you have the storm we have in Oregon, there will be snow miles deep. It is a BIG storm.

Donner Summit began getting light snowfall an hour ago. Assuming you're riding Heavenly, the runs that have been previously blown will be OK .. not nearly enough coverage for off-piste. I think North Tahoe will be getting a lot more than South Shore .. and nothing like what Oregon's getting right now. Still, there's finally excitement in the air.

Just got back from Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail. They just got around 10 inches of powder when I was leaving and it was great. Most of the resorts are at 50-75% with areas higher up the mountain closed. I took my son, so I didn't see any reason to push him down the double black diamonds....yet.

I live 2.5 hours from Taos, NM. I hear it is a decent ski area. Or, for a quick afternoon fix, I could take the 20 min tramway up to Sandia Peak, that I can see from my living room window. Either way, I better get back on the snow, since I now have world class ski areas at my doorstep .

Aurel;
Get your azz up to Taos & you won't be disappointed. It is an outstanding ski area and is getting very good snow this year.It is not huge and a fairly easy place to navigate - you're either in Kachina Bowl or the West Basin. I know if I were 2.5 hours away, I would have a pass and be there damn near every weekend. Unfortunately, it will only be for a few days this winter.

Nothing but wonderful in North Tahoe. 18-22" Monday morning, and a bit more heavy snowfall forecast. Next couple days should be epic, as more lifts open ..
